How much oil does your truck use between changes?

I love my 1st gens too much to sell them. Easy to work on and the suckers wont die.

My wife and I were talking the other day and decided that we might buy a newer cummins truck for long haul trips but we are keeping the 1st gens around for everything else. They are great work trucks.

If one gets wrecked look for me to create some sick cummins powerd street rod or old 50's flatbed or something. Maybe I'll have a spiffy new generator for my house... . and a few of my neighbors... .

I really like my first Gen, will probibly never get rid of it because as many others have stated they just wont die, and finding a clean one used is almost impossible here in Texas. . I wish people would quit asking if I want to sell mine...

As for my next one I think a 1999-2003 ford f450 or f550 with a p7100 12valve and a road ranger. I figure the dana 135 and the fuller should handle about 1000ftlbs and the 19. 5 tires last forever, and with the way power strokes and 6. 0's are puking I should be able to find a clean body cheep... ...

BTW anyone done a super duty swap yet ????

The way this truck is running and with only 114,000 km on the odometer in 12 years, there are only two reasons that I would replace it, 1) is to get an automatic and 2) to get a quad. Of course the replacement would be another CTD. :D

It's hard to think about letting go of my crew cab, but I could see myself in a 3rd gen 1-ton SRW 4 door 6 speed someday. Heck, I don't even have my crew cab completely done yet. :D I have thought about selling the crew and the '97 Dodge 1/2 ton to get something newer. With my new job, I work a lot of hours and have less time for maintaining and restoring my old truck.

I can put a lot of money into this truck (see sig) and still not come near the cost of a new one.

The Old Gray Mule only has 167kmiles on it. It does what I want it to do.

I just don't need a "next truck".

My next truck is....

My next truck is already here and it is... ... . I hesitate to even say... . a gas powered half ton ... ... ... f... o... r..... d (choke gasp gag). Actually it is not mine and that is the only reason I am driving it. I just took employment and this is the company rig they gave me. My 92 is up for sale as I don't need it anymore. The only good thing about the ford is IT COSTS ME NOTHING. Thats right. No gas. No maintenance. No insurance. Nothing. And I get to use it for personal use. From a financial standpoint, I guess that makes this ford the best vehicle I have ever had. From any other standpoint... ... . Actually it is not as bad as I expected. It is an 02 extended cab with 4 doors. At least it is a stick. It drives decent and is quiet. Like most ford trucks, the ergonomics are designed for mutants. Humans are not the intended drivers or I am not human or the interior design lacks... . But since it costs me absolutely nothing, I guess I will adapt.

Thats pretty funny:D :D

But anyway I am going to go back to a First Gen. Made a mistake selling my 92 club cab dually and buying a 24valve 98. I am sure oyu all read the complaints about lift and injector pumps. Plus it had an auto in it. All I got was a better ride, a bit more room. I also got a bunch of problems and a junk trans! (and spent a bunch more $$). So back I go, look forward to hanging out here again!!
