Just curious, what's everybody's normal engine ( coolant ) temps when cruising and towing?

Cruising, I'm at 180*-190* unloaded

Towing , 180*-210* in winter, fan off, adding or removing cardboard between rad. and intercooler as needed.

What's the max temp to cruise/ tow at before becomming too hot, what's optimum temp?

i normally cruise around 175 to 180 but i also have a 180 deg. t-stat. i would say around 175 to 195 are pretty optimum temps.

Judging by the factory temp gauge it appears that my cruise temps stay around 180-185. Towing my 5th wheel (14,000 lbs) the temps are the same. Only time they climb is in the hills/mountains.

nontowing in Over Drive---------180-185

towing in Over Drive--------------185-190

towing in third direct-------------195-200

Over the winter, it's been strange. I go about 20 miles to a bus stop, since 9/11. On the really cold mornings, the thermostat dosen't open before I get there. The truck is running about 195.

When it opens if stays pretty much at 175 - 180. Haven't towed much lately. Hopefully this summer.
