Once again shows that not only the engine but transmission and gearing have alot to do with performance. The Duramax definately powered by the competition, but my God, that front end is ugly... .

The Duramax sure did a nice job! I continue to be amazed by how close all 3 diesel offerings perform.

The 1-ton test was sort of bogus, though, since the Dodge didn't have the same axle ratio as the others. They should've all been either 4. 10 or 3. 73.

I have to concur on the GM trucks styling. My favorite part though isn't the ugly front end but it is the truck with the most swollen fenders and the tiniest little tires. Man does that look stupid.

I guess I don't see that the isuzumax powered by the rest by much. Sure it did have the best acceleration, the numbers bear that out clearly. That tire size affects overall gearing too though. Fit a set of tires of comparable diameter to the others and see if that doesn't close the gap, I bet it would.

It is nice to see such strong competition though. I remember being amazed by the power of my '92 CTD, and that was what 160hp, 420 lb/ft???? Today we have double the HP and 650 lb/ft... amazing.

I still wonder how the Ford wieghs in at 1000 lbs more though, that is a half a ton of extra ballast:eek:
