Be All That You Can Be....

Contrary to popular belief, us Drill Sergeants (I've been "former" Drill Sgt for 10 years now, having ETS'd in 1991) are the nicest, mildmannered folks you'll ever encounter, once you consider the following:

We have, typically, an 18-22 hour workday.

There's never enough coffee.

If a smoker, he can't in the presence of the trainees.

We have responsibility for health, welfare, training, evaluation, crowd-control and scheduling of 40-70 (depending on time of year) be-bop walkin', twinkie-eatin', rap-listenin', little $#!+z that can't tie their own boots (for the first couple-a-weeks, anyway)

We have the responsibility to mold, simultaneously, the above-mentioned unruly mob, and the individuals therein into a functioning organization, comprised of many highly capable, highly motivated individuals, and, quite often, we have this "Super-dad" responsibility prior to the age of 25.

I applaud you, and I commend you for subjecting yet another "Drill" to the very work conditions that keep him on his chosen side of the "sane" line. (WARNING: all do not choose the same side of that line  )

All in all, a good time, indeed! :)

Behind you 100%

I joined the Navy 23 and a half years ago and still going. Follow your own path. I have and never looked back. The adventure continues!

You certainly are not crazy. And there is nothing wrong with turning wrenches for a living, no matter where ya do it.

But whats with the Army?? Ya can walk, fly, or ride, and you chose to walk???

Seriously, good luck, make your parents and country proud.

Two thumbs up

Be the best you can be at whatever it is you choose as an occupation. The country is behind you and that is always a plus and you have a solid Commander in Chief giving the orders.
