Me first I guess. Wifey, son and I were on vacation in Phoenix,AZ. last June,She uses the wheeler magazine to find campsites on the trip. We find one that says mh beside it. We,find the park and drive in,I notice it is mobil homes and no rv's. At the end of the road I asked her to let me see the wheelers, it says mh beside the heading ok. We found mh is mobil homes. Travel trailers can't stay there. I had to back up the 30 5er at least a half mile. Probably farther. On the same trip I blew out the rearend and had to wait on the highway for two wreckers to bring us in. I am sure someone can top this!

Dang and I thought stealing tailgates was bad!
Two seperate trips, two different trailers.

One tire blew and rapped itself around the axle. Had to take the axle all apart and hacksaw the rubber.

Another one blew and the trailer fender cut the tire in front of it.
Had to buy two used tires, and when I took it back to rental, they wanted two NEW tires!

If the tires were new, they wouldn't have blown,eh?

Buried my front axle in the mud/clay after slipping off of the top of a hill into a gully, after it started raining. Made it back to the top of the hill a couple times where the road is, and continued slipping off of the top a couple more times... the road was narrow atop these foothills. The final attempt I couldn't get back up, I ended up articulating the front axle one way and the rear axle the other way, with open diffs... the only tires that would spin were the ones with no traction. There was nothing to winch onto, no rocks and no trees. My buddy and I had to hike out to the main road and hitch a ride to a telephone. I called my dad and he said he'd pull me out, "tomorrow, if the rain stops. "
The rain stopped the next day, we drove out there in his 24 valve, hooked the winch to his hitch, the 9000# winch didn't have the balls to move me. I set the brake on the winch, got in my truck tried moving forward while his truck tugged me out... it worked.
The dumbest part about it was, I was using michelin road tires at the time.

I guess I'll tell my most recent:
Gone fishing, About 1/2 mile from the boat launch, the right trailer tire decides that it's had enough. Unfortunatly it decides to go on top of a bridge. I hear it let go and figure I'd pull to the bottom of the bridge so I can put on the spare. You know, safety first. When I got to the bottom of the bridge and pull over I realize there is deep black smoke coming from the trailer. Apparently, the tire tread caught the fender and pulled it underneath the rim and it sort of stayed there. SO, I had been going down the bridge with the rim sitting on the metal fender. The heat had built up enough to catch the rubber on fire. We jump out and I jump in the boat to get the fire extinguisher. I grab it and point it at the fire and... ..... NOTHING. The end of the extingusher was plugged up with mud from the dirt daubers. Well, I try to clean it out and still nothing. The **** thing was depressurized. SO... I beat it on the side of the trailer to break the top off. After a little cussin and persuading we finally get the top off and sprinkle the stuff on the fire and put it out. Put on the spare and off we go fishing. On the way home the first stop was the marina where I bought a brand spanking new fire extiguisher. Only damage to the boat was the decals got hot enough to bubble up.

Anyone wanna go fishin??

Curtis, might have been easier to go on down to the boat launch and submerge it. Sure fire way to get you to the head of the line,if there is one.

Doug,
Make a trip up to Tulare and have Tulare Dodge do your work. I had them do some work on my 97 and I could not have been happier with the outcome.

"Close Call" sticky predicament: The first real snow we had this winter I decided to go offroadin' in the snow. I was on a powerline that had a steep bank. I told the girl that was with me that I thought we would be able to drive down the steep hill. As we approached the hill, it decided to be a solid sheet of ice underneath the snow so... . we started sliding unable to steer or stop as the truck goes sideways sliding right toward this big drop-off. I said "it's been nice knowing ya, were gonna roll it and die when we slide sideways over that bank. " Somehow the truck slides to a stop right on the edge of this bank, so I recollected myself for a sec and then carefully tried to get the truck to go backwards. It worked! but then we slid right back down there just as worried as the first time. This time I got it going forwards and out into some high weeds and gave it all **** in all gears to get away from that stinkin bank! "I'm tired of this game, lets go home!"

Well it wasnt me and it was a Dodge motor home, small class C. A friend was on the way home with it from just buying it from a widow, and had just filled the fuel tank. One of the rear tires threw a tred (radial) and the steel belt flew around and ripped the fill spout off and it caught fire and totally burned up. The story has a good ending though, no one was hurt and he called the lady he bought it from to find out if it was still insured and it was and he got all of his money back.

Stopped the Mojave desert town of Barstow for the night before Thanksgiving. Early the next morning went out to start my Toyota pickup, wouldn't start, popped the hood, wow! there's some loose wires, wow! again there's lots of loose wires. Somebody had stole the electronic ignition,I had to wait four days for the dealer to open for a new one-$600. At least the motel owner invited me over for turkey and gave me the weekly rate on the room.

I don't know about worst predicament, but certainly most embarrasing! And it was in my father's, not mine. I was going into town to get some more stuff from their old house, and I saw someone stuck in snow drift. I started backing up to see if I could help, and backed off into a small culvert. He has the Michelin M&S tires - which were pretty much helpless in the snow and ice. Someone else had to pull both myself and the other person out. Never told my Dad about it either.

Took the boy with me to go fishing last summer at Percy Priest Lake in Tennessee.
Didn't have the parking brake set tight enough, while trying to launch the boat. Barely made it back into the cab in time to keep more than the rear wheels from being submerged. Kid had to drive the boat that day, while I killed a six pack trying to soothe my shattered nerves...
