2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission Wheel almost fell off!!!

A buddy of mine has a '99 1500 and his wheel almost fell off while he was driving. It was bowed in pretty badly. With the center cap off, a large nut with a broken bolt fell out. I believe it's the alxeshaft. I'm no 4wd guy so I don't know. What has happened here? It's in the garage yet to be torn down. Thanks

Wheel bearing or ball joint must've crapped out and broke the stub shaft.



That'd be my guess.

Yup, ensure that if you have someone due yur brakes that they check/pack the wheel bearings. I had a right front seize up. . . twists that axle nut right off. These things don't make very good plows.
