I was wondering if any body knows where to buy front wheel bearing for a 01 at a good price?

I have gotten mine from NAPA, they used to be lifetime warranty, but now they are 1 year. I believe they still offer the Timken bearings though.

No that was one side but it was a new dodge part. At the time I was mad at my part store.

I used rock auto.com 286. got a discount for this site, over night shipping to my door. Timken part, but it had SKF bearings in it.

Are these hub assemblies or just the bearings? My right front just went out and all I can find are hub assemblies. I figure it cant be that hard to put new bearings in the hub right?

they are a full hub assy only. prices in the past were crazy 400-600 now they seem alittle better. the main problem usually seen is a truck that has alot of miles and seen alot of salt corrosion etc. getting the darn thing off can be the fun part. anti-seaze the poo out of the new one if you put one on.

just changed my right front monday. bought it from o'rielly for around $150. federal mogal (sp) part. hardest part of the swap was pressing the studs back in. loooooots of anti-sieze. (go ahead and buy a big tube).

dont you have to take the bearing off and press the studs into it everytime you change out your rotors?? thats my set up off a 96 2500 4x4

yes, the studs are pressed thru the rotor into the bearing. when you pull it off the axle they will come off together. a few taps with a hammer on each stud will knock them out.

I just blew up both the front wheel bearings on mine, within 1000 miles of each other. Anyone else on here done this? I didn't get any warning on either one - just a little wobble and then all of a sudden it it let go leaving me on the side of the road. Had to call a tow truck twice. I have 120k on the truck, and it's had a snow plow since my dad bought it brand new. I bought the premium replacement through Napa, at $375 a piece. It's a lot of money, but with a plow on the front I figured it's worth it.

I have gone through 4 or 5 of those junk unit-bearings over the last 200K. The O'Reilly units seem to hold up the best for me. Last time I needed the 4WD the CAD wouldn't engage. The only GOOD part of these front ends is the Dana 60 housing. The driver's side OEM axle has a reduced OD which is the size of a Dana 44, what were they thinking?

The only way to avoid constantly seperating the rotors from the unit-bearings is to change pads on a regular basis BEFORE the are gone and eat the rotors. The sound of the engine covers the noise made by the pads when they are going out, so the rotors are typically wiped out before you know there is a problem. I swap my pads out every 20-25K, takes about 30 minutes.

Have one on order from AutoZone $370 shipped. I have read that you cannot reuse the axle nut. Where do you find those?

I have always reused my axle nuts. They are simple castle nuts with pins, nothing special. Cannot imagine why they could not be reused? I have changed many of these unit-bearings, my truck has 320K on it without any issues from re-using the nut.
