2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission Wheel Bearings

I am replacing the front wheel bearings on my 01 4WD daully and do not have the torque specs for the axles nuts. Is there a spec or is it like the good ol' days snug it up, back it off, snug it up, good to go?

I guess I should have done some more research through the post. I guess my question now is, are the bearings replaceable (with basic tools) or do I simply need to replace the hub?



It's one thing after. I guess I shouldn't complain she got 198000 on her and I am just now starting to replace parts.

The bearings are in the hub assembly and not serviceable. So, you are looking at 350 to 450 bucks each if you have front anti-lock brakes. When I bought mine 2 years ago, it was a dealer item. Local stores had them for 99 and older but no 2000 and newer.

Any suggestions for replacement bearings? I'm replacing my drivers side, Mopar4less site doesn't work well, so I called them but they are out of stock and need to order it. I can bet no one down here has them, seems like I always get the "We have to order that", so I wonder what the dealers actually stock???

do a search, there was a post to get them direct by mail as a VERY reasonable
price, Tan you could always do a hub conversion, ( replace with real bearings)

Look for them at Rockauto.com. They show a price of 262 each for your truck. As far as the torque specs, on my truck the axle nut is torqued to 175 ft/lbs. The 4 bolts that attach the hub to the knuckle are 125 ft/lbs. Don't know how much different it is for your truck.

I have to replace the RF bearing and really want a manual-hub conversion kit but the dynatrac kit is way outta my budget right now, so I resigned myself to repalcing the bearing/hub for now...



The ems kit is a little more in my budget... although not really...

NAPA has them for 250 bucks, just did one of mine a few weeks ago... .
