I have no wheel hop with my Carli full leaf pack. Another important factor is correct air pressure and tire size and type when off road.

"correct air pressure and tire size and type" What do you mean:confused:

I am running OEM tires @ 80 psi.

Do I need to air down?

If the wheel hop is happening off road,80 psi and skinny tires are the perfect recipe for hop. A flotation type tire at an apropriate pressure for the terrain and correct gear selection for the load will take care of it. If it is on the pavement most wheel hop is driver induced by too much gear, weight or applied power for load.

It only happens when am off rd towing in sand.

Whan I air down and playing off rd I get no hop.

I also have a leaf pack and kent had said that my system will eliminate wheel hop.

I guess one day I ill have to buy bigger tires, I have the extra rims now just need the tires:-laf :-laf

You think traction bars will work for towing off rd ? Or just air down when I turn off rd?

I would hate to air down when towing so heavy and hit a pot hole or something and crack a rim:confused:

Thanks

Sand is a killer, I go alot to Silver Lake and of all the trucks I took there they all experienced wheel Hop. I believe it's the lack of traction the sand provides, the axle is constantly loading and UN-loading. I have a Ford that I lifted and it was very bad with wheel hop, and it didn't matter where, pavement, dirt or sand. I installed a set of traction bars and it instantly went away.

I also experienced wheel hop on my Dodge when backing up a heavy trailer, this too was remedied by installing traction bars. The ones I used were not made for the Dodge, instead they were for a Chevy and I modified them. Since I just re-done my Dodge and added many new suspension pieces to it, I will be building a set of traction bars for it. I like the double attachment type traction bar, they don't limit articulation like the single type. You can buy some for your dodge, I believe suspension connection has a pair, but they are only the single attachment type. Still they would work much better then nothing.

You have answered your own question, like I teach everyone in our group air pressure in sand is extremely important. Skinny tires in sand do not work well, but air them down helps immensly. With the trailer in tow I drop to about 25 psi.

A mini pac can not stop wheel wrap! A full leaf pack can as Direct connection proved many years ago. You could run their super stock leaf springs with 500+hp NO AXLE WRAP. Traction bars limit ground clearance and are not needed when the tires are correct for the application along with a properly designed suspension .

I run in the sand a lot. I do not experience wheel hop... ... ... . no ground clearance robbing bars for me.

But if you are in need someone mentioned above the use of a double attaching point. what he was refering to was a traction bar with a shackle mounted between the bar and the frame. Glacier diesel power sells them. i am thinking about buying a set of GDP traction bars or building my own.
