I seem to have a very noticible wheel hop coming from the rear at exactly 45mph. If I go less than or more than 45mph, it seems to disappear. Does anyone have any idea what would cause this? My guess is that my tires may be out of balance... .

See signature below. I have 35" BFG A/T's with only about 4,000mi on them.

Thanks!

DELZPWR,

I just had a simular problem on the left front with brand new cooper Tires. A tire was out of round and made the truck hop starting at 45 MPH.

I also had a bent rim on the rear with 38's on my 4X4 Ram Charger and it would buck several inches of the ground around 40 MPH and squeel the tires. I've got new rims now.

my 1st two thoughts would be... .

1) threw a wheel weight.

2) the tires DO move on the rim after they are 1st mounted. It takes a bit of time and heat for them to stick to the rim. If you have a heavy foot or have done some towing, you may have really spun one or both and they are very out of balance now.

Having a vib at a particular speed or starting at a high speed then getting more notable the faster you go is usually balancing.

Big hint, you just mounted new tires.

Tire out of round..or out of balance...

Mine does this too... Tire is out of round... Cheap ol set of tires on it when I bouth it. Waiting to get them good Michelins... Boy do they hurt the pocket book!!

Thanks guys, you were right on the money...

Just got back from the tire shop. They said both rear wheels needed 3oz of weight each. I must have thrown the wheel weights. Now it rides as smooth as a Cadillac! Well, almost... . :D :D
