2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission wheel hop balance problems

I am having problems with a shake from what feels like the rear end. A tire out of balance, or a bent wheel. Between 70 and 75 mph. Also, It seems like I might have a shudder at around 35 to 45 mph, but cant be sure, (dual tires at 80 psi just ride rough!)and it may not be related.



I have new tires, mounted and balanced twice, and have those automatic wheel balance rings (cant remember the name) placed between the dual wheels also!



Tell me what to try, or to look for!

I had the same problem and I even bought the "centramatic onboard wheel balancers" and that did not help. Someone told me about the Hunter GSP9700 Road Force wheel balancer - found a shop that had one had them check the tires and that solved the problem.

I would look for a shop in your area with one of these and maybe give that a try.

I'd suspect a tire is out of round, not unheard of with new tires. Spin the tire slowly with the wheel off the ground and look at the tread surface against a background to see if it is true or not.



Also, unless you are fully loaded, your tire pressure is too high. I used to run around with 80 psi in mine too until I read the owner's manual. 65 psi in the front, 40 in the rear. I rides like a Cadillac by comparison.
