My 06 mega cab 3500 SRW 6speed wheel hops VERY bad when in mud snow or sand loaded or unloaded. Does any one make a ladder or traction bar that works for this or is there anything out there that doesn't stand out as much as either?

With the stock size Michelin's my wheel hop was terrible. With 315 BFG's wheel hop was drastically reduced, only a problem on uphill dirt roads!

Many companies out there are making traction bars. Superlift makes a nice set, but they are pricey, especially shipped to Alaska. Tuff Country makes a small set, with a good price, that mounts above the leaf pack, but it is short, and most said it helps, but obviously not as good as the full size. My wheel hop with the larger tires is worse, but they may also be due to the lift. And for me, airbags did not help... And I have a 2006 Mega Cab SRW 3500 6 speed as well.

It seems to be the same bigger or smaller since I only ran the stock tires far a thousand miles at most Had to go to 35s because of the overdrive ratio. I'll check into the peices you mentioned, thanks.

I've seen the Superlifts on a friends truck, they are nice. GDP also makes a set, high end pricing but they are really nice. I had BAD wheel hop on my SRW when it was new, don't know if it was just me getting used to a new truck/clutch or what but I also went to 315's early on in mileage. I have only had it a couple times since, but when it happens it truly is a nuisance to deal with. I noticed it is mostly associated with a 1st gear start off, unless I'm towing I start out in 2nd, that seemed to make it go away.

Who is GDP?

I put a set of Helwig traction control springs on mine. Helped, but not enough. Then installed a set of the Tuff Country bars which helped a great deal. This was on a 2500, howeve, and I think the Tuff Country bars would interfere with your overload spring on a 3500. I've see bump stops installed on the extreme lower leaf of the spring pack ala SRT-10 rear suspension that look like they'd work. It's essentially just a hole drilled in the lower spring near the front end of it and a rubber bumper installed that contacts the next spring above it, near the front mount. Won't let the axle twist or wind up, which is where the hop comes from.

TABBOTT - I have the Helwig bars on my 2500 and the completely eliminated the hop. I have been unloaded in deep sand in in 2x4 without them and hopped like a rabbit. With Helwig bars on in the same sand, no hop. Do you have the 3/4 ton or the 1/2 ton traction springs? It would make a difference since the 3/4 ton ones are larger. The Helwigs also only cost about $80.
