I'm running my wheels without the hubcaps. Has anyone have any recommendations on a good wheel paint? has anyone been running wheels for a long period of time? how do they hold up to temp and chipping?

Seems like the choices are duplicolor, VHT, Krylon and Rustoleum. Only VHT markets high temp.

I’ve used Rustoleum BBQ paint on several vehicles wheels. It sticks well and holds up better than expected.

The wife’s 03 OE 4Runner wheels are showing their age and she asked me to paint them. I’ll probably clean and scuff them, and then spray more of the same stuff on them.

BBQ Paint - Thanks!

I always used dedicated wheel paint with good results. I mean there must be a reason why they sell wheel paint.

Most important is the proper preparation of the wheels surface. Not so much sanding but cleaning of any grease or silicon residues prior to painting.

Are you talking aluminum or steel? My neighbor does powder coating and gave me a price on sandblasting and powdercoating my Hummer H2 rims. I'll see if I can find the quote.

Steel Blakers. Paint arrives Tuesday courtesy of Amazon. Powder coat ... interesting idea

I found the quote my neighbor gave me. $260-$275 for four rims. That includes $15 each for sandblasting, and $50 each for powder coating. You may find it for less if you check around. I used to make steel signs and I had them powder coated. They were like $10 each. The preparation is the whole trick to powder coating. A bad prep job and it will peel right off.
