Hi one of my friend sent me the link below . . I have not heard about it here?

http://www.safetyalerts.com/recall/a/02/v00730.htm

Component: WHEELS:CENTER SECTION

Potential Number Of Units Affected : 1086

Summary:

DEALERS WILL INSPECT THE WHEELS AND REPLACE THEM IF NECESSARY. OWNER NOTIFICATION IS EXPECTED TO BEGIN JUNE 17, 2003. . OWNERS WHO TAKE THEIR VEHICLES TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER ON AN AGREED UPON SERVICE DATE AND DO NOT RECEIVE THE FREE REMEDY WITHIN A REASONABLE TIME SHOULD CONTACT DAIMLERCHRYSLER AT 1-800-992-1997.

Notes:

DAIMLERCHRYSLER RECALL NO. C21. CUSTOMERS CAN ALSO CONTACT THE NATIONAL HIGHWAY TRAFFIC SAFETY ADMINISTRATIONS AUTO SAFETY HOTLINE AT 1-888-DASH-2-DOT (1-888-327-4236).

First I have known about this one. It does not give specific build dates for the affected vehicles but does say a little over 1000 vehicles are suspect. . I'm sure I have one of them.

Very interesting. I had to have one of my wheels replaced already because it lost air through the wheel. Porosity in the casting just like the SB says. I thought it was just a one-time fluke, and I didn't stop to think about wheel strength.

Now if we could just talk D/C into giving us cash for the bad wheels we could go buy some real aftermarket wheels!

It is recall C21, and includes trucks built in Saltillo (G in 11th position of Vin) with wheels sales code WD3, and built between March 24, and April 7, 2003. It also said many were inspected at the plant, and may not be included in the recall if they were. The dealer can check in VIP by VIN to see if the truck is actually involved. Also, it only involves wheels from one mold, so again every truck may not be affected, but then one or more wheels might, but possibly not all.
