There is a spacer between the wheel rim and the hub on only one wheel of the truck. The truck in question is a 98,QC,4X,Cummins,Long Bed. Anybody knows anything about this?

I'm posting this question for a friend of mine.

I assume your talking about one of the front wheels? These spacers were used to help correct front end handling problems. You might be able to dig more info out of the archives.

spacer

It should be on the right front hub and is to add a little offset to aid steering problems, had mine at the dealer last week and they checked to be sure it was there, did alignment and said it needed the ball joint cams for more camber or to tilt the front end back a little more ,hope to get it fixed this week.

I've been running w/o that spacer for over 7000 miles (Since Jan) w/o any notable differences or problems.

I changed wheel and tires to a 16x 8 aluminum wheel and 285 Dunlops. Discount Tire left the spacer off. I've heard that it should be put back on and will do so this week when the tires are balanced and rotated.

I'll let you know if there is a difference.

I've been running a '98 12 valve that has had no spacer(s) from the factory (are you kidding?) with 285 75 R16 tires, and a 2. 5" lift.

NO pulling, NO brake problems.

This truck as 30k miles on it, and Performance Friction front pads on the disc brakes.

I'd be leery of a . 375" spacer to "correct" front end track or pull problems.

Best to Y'all.

There was a TSB out for the spacer for 94-95 trucks. But my 96 ended up with one during warranty work.

It concerned a drift(pull) left or right while moderate to hard braking just short of anti-lock operation. Another symptom was steering wheel would remain straight (or in the direction it was pointed at) but truck would go left or right. They installed a shem between the wheel and hub/bearing assemble.

I believe the shem would go on the side it would pull to.

note: if brake pull steering wheel will move toward direction of pull.

Thank you all for the info. Looks like there is nothing to worry about.

As far as I'm concerned this can be the end of this thread... ..... :D
