2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission Wheel Swap

Hey Guys,



Does anyone know if you can swap wheels & rims from a 2001 1/2 3500 (front & rear disc brakes) with a 1999 dually ??

Richie, I think I remember reading that they wont. If the old brain is working tonight I think there is an interferance problem with the rear drums.

I'm pretty sure they can bolt right up, I know there are a few guys around this board that have put the newer rims on the older trucks so they could use the bigger tires.

I think the problem is with the aluminum wheels. Earlier models, pre '00, used 13" drums. The later model thicker alum wheels, used on 12" drum and disc brake rears, will not clear the the older larger drums. If you're using steelies you should be okay... but can't say for sure on that.

All second generation Ram 2500's & 3500's used 13 inch rear drums model years 1994 through 1999. They were changed to 12. 125 inch inch rear drums, and remained so, until replaced by the rear discs mid-model year 2001.
