2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission wheel well cracks

I noticed these cracks the other day, the I read about them in the latest issue of the TDR mag. What have you all done to prevent them from spreading or causing rust problems? I'm trying to post pics but am having trouble. One crack comes from the hole for the plastic rivet that secures the wheel well liner, the other one is about 3 or 4 inches from the rivet hole.
