I have a 2005 SLT 4x4 6spd. I love the truck so far. I would like to get some wheel well flares kind of like the bushwackers and I wanted to get some recommendations. I don't have plans for a lift; but I do want to go up to some 285's. Thanks, Soren

I went to Dodge and got the fender flares that are on the new Power Wagon. I have 285/70 17's and they work great. They dont stick out as far as the aftermarkets do but I really like them.

try looking for the ATS ones, they look pretty good from what I've seen and don't have that black gasket sticking out betweenthem and the paint. I found somewhere a really good price painted to match your truck color, but I had to reinstall windows and away it went.

I now have to reinstall windows AGAIN, but I always dump the whole hard drive to an old one so I have everything there if I really need it.

If someone could let me know what file I needed to find to get all my netscape bookmarks I can let you guys know of the best price on ATS painted flares.

I just don't have the time to trial and error to find my old bookmarks in netscape. I wish I did because I had A LOT and all of the best prices on EVERYTHING I thought I MIGHT buy SOMEDAY in there. I don't want to spend the time to find all of those again. Any help would be appreciated and I'll let you guys know on the ATS flare price and website. I can picture it even, just don't know where it was.

I saw a MegaCAb with the Powerwagon flares on it - awesome looking, not too big not too small, just right for the larger tires he added. I am thinking of adding them.

Flares

I bought a set of ATS flares for $297 plus shipping. Then I paid $350 to have them painted red and silver to match my truck and installed. Got a little ripped on the paint, I think, but they sure look nice. Not sure they would keep mud and stuff off the truck if you were using 285s. That's a pretty wide tire.

Jeez, I don't know spending that amount of mula for add ons, Don't you all think it is outrageous what some vendors want for flares? Considering its just plastic and molded to conform to existing shapes, then it also runs a risk of damaging the paint. You can order the rear wheel wells from DC for under $150 for the pair.

Looking at the Fords and Chevy's that have them attached to the gassers do you all really think they paid over $650 for the painted flares? :--) Notice Dodge is the only on that don't have them on the trucks (unless you buy a power wagon and even then did it cost DC almost $500 for them?) I don't think so, to me these flares look great and I would love to have a set but for that type of money I could put on gauges, better tires, rims etc.

So the only way we can get these guys to drop the prices in a reasonable range is to not buy them!

Watcha think?

Obie1, I think you should not buy them. Go spend your money on something else. I bought my flares to protect the side of my truck from mud and snow thrown up by my 19. 5" wheels and commercial tires. That is what is important to me. It might not be important to someone else.

As your signature says, "A man's gotta do what he's gotta do" and I chose to spend my money on flares.

Didn't mean to offend you, just trying to get these flares prices into perspective. I think they are great additions but I don't understand the price gouging.

Be careful wish there was snow to drive trough down here all we have is heat, humidity and mosquitoes.

No offense

Aw, you didn't offend me, Obie1. I just concluded you would be happier spending your money on something else and thought I'd say so. Venders know we spend money foolishly - and you're right: they'll come down on a price if nobody buys or somebody else beats it. Me, I have been soaked by professionals (DC clipping me $40,000 for a pickup truck is a good example) and flares and the installation are just another example. My signature says a lot about what I spend $$$ on.

I know about your hometown too. Brenham's a nice little artsy town not far from Houston. Got some good friends who live there and raise miniature donkeys.

Yeah been in Brenham for 12 years, I am oilfield trash for over 25 years, work in Houston can't stand the traffic nor the crime. Living in the country helps me do well. I really respect people that "mean what ya say and say what ya mean".

Miniature donkeys are at the Convent (nuns) and there also many others doing exotic animal raising, miniature horses, pot belly pigs etc...

As for the fender flares I want some but need the gauges and other things more.

Colorado Springs is God's country as well. :D

RMarkey,

The location of your Internet browser favorites is easy to find. I'm ASSuming you have Windows XP. Try the following location:

C:\Documents and Settings\"username"\Favorites

Of course, "username" indicates you enter the username you use to logon to your computer. PM me if you have any other questions.

No one any where is giving any info on dually applications. Front is a no brainer. What about the rears? Contours are a little different. Will any rear flare fit both SRW and DRW trucks?

I would absolutely support buying gauges before fender flares. I didn't get flares until I got the 19. 5" wheels and then I'm not sure I need 'em since I got the 245 wheels. They are slightly more narrow than my OEM 265s.

Oil field trash? Watch it! My dad was a tool pusher all his life. I roughnecked between years in college. I have two stepsons, one a geologist, the other a petroleum engineer. I gotta family full of oil patch people. I could sling a set of lead tongs or backups with the best of 'em. Never worked derricks tho :-laf

That's kinda what I had thought also, but there are only about 6, which I didn't know were one there. Any other ideas? I'll find those flares and all of the other stuff I wanted sooner or later!
