I'm going to change my wheels to 17" to accomodate changing the front brakes to the 3rd gen caliper brackets and rotors.



I'm looking at wheels and can't decide 8" width or 9" width. I read some where that too wide screws up the already sketchy steering but I like how wide wheels make the truck look beefier... . but is 8 enough.

It depends on the tires. If you're staying with a stock size (265/70R17) then 8" is fine. If you're going larger then check the tire specs for the correct rim width. It's more important to get the correct backspacing/offset so the wheel doesn't hit anything and suspension geometry stays the same.
