I think I have a front bearing going out on my '99 1 ton, 4WD, dually. I hear a high pitched squeak going straight and when I turn the wheel to the left. It stops when I turn the wheel to the right. This happens in forward and reverse. If it is the bearing, how hard are these to change and where would be the best place to buy replacement parts?

Thanks.

It'd be on the right then.

Bad bearings typically roar or grind, more than squeak. Sqeaks and squeals are usually brakes or something lighter.

Don't know nuthin about the 4WD setup, but somebody here does. ;)

The bearing was not that hard to replace on my 98. 5 3/4 ton. It required removing the hub from the steering knuckle and driving the studs out of the rotors. There are pretty good instructions and pictures in the hayes manual you can get at any auto store, it is about $20. The whole process took me a couple of hours once I had all the stuff together (that included new rotors and calipers on the brakes).

Good luck
