can somebdy fill me in on wheels for our rigs. I remember something about the lug bolt pattern on our trucks no longer being used. I was hoping to spiff up the look of the truck by getting away from the stock rims.

As far as I know, 8 lug is 8 lug. I had an 8 lug Chevy before I bought my 1990 1st gen and the aluminum rims on the Chevy came off and bolted right on the Dodge (I did have to get new lug nuts, Chevy had 9/16" studs and the Dodge had 1/2") but the pattern was identical. Most trucks whether Ford, Chevy or Dodge had Dana axles (with the exception of the GM 14 bolt corporate rears) so the lug patterns should still be the same. I think you'll find plenty of options for rims for your truck.

Pretty much the only 8 lug that wont fit is the Ford Super Duty, it has a metric pattern. Stock Chevy wheels generally have a smaller hub pilot, so they wont work either. Dodge, Ford (pre 99) and aftermarket wheels are your choices.

Travis. .

I'm putting these on my 2nd gen. The price was right(free) and a tech at work already is running a set on his 94. He had to slightly open up the center hole, and trim to get the dodge center cap to work.

They will beat my chrome steelies fo sho.

i just put new wheels and tires on today the bolt patern is 8 on 6. 5 w/ 4. 5" back space its the standard for us- from what i gather onnly ford and chevy have gone metric. i could have had a set off my mecanic 4th gen but the offset was wrong... . and 17" wheels are teh way to go, much better ride. josh

Interesting, I was just looking at a set of take-offs myself, 17" off a brand new Dodge 2500. I know the Ford & Dodge 8 lug 6. 5 bolt pattern will interchange until Ford introduced the metric pattern, and the Ford & Dodge will fit the Chevy but I was always under the impression because of the floating rear end that the Chevy wheels would not work at all on the other two. For the guy with the Chevy wheels, how much does it cost you to have them bored out?

Also, can someone confirm fitment of a newer generation Dodge wheels on the 1st gens? And what year wheels do you have on the 1st gen?

the 2nd gen stamped steelies/chrome rims are 8 X 6. 5 lug pattern 16X 6. 5 with an offset of 4 & 5/16" so that will give you a more narrow track. I was rubbing the rears on the inside of the wheel well and it looked funny so I went back to the "crome blade" chrome wheels (aftermarket) that are 16X7 with 4. 5 backspace. My readers rigs shows these wheels, I use toyo open country H/T 265/75 r16 load range E with these rims. I also have the special dodge lug nuts that are 1/2 inch with the shoulder that will accept the newer 2nd gen hubcaps. Pics show those as well

It will be free as well. The tech at work who already is running these rims will help me. He used a die grinder with an aluminum blade on his set.
