I have a 99 dodge that when the dash gets hot from the sun or even just from running the defrost heater I lose all my gauges and it reads no BUS in the odometer area and the over head says CCD but when I turn on cool air to the defrost and wait about two min. everything comes back on but check engine stays on any ideas?

If its like my '98 the dash console plugs into a single socket in the back. Maybe there is a problem with this connection that when it heats up something expands and looses connectivity. You don't have to reach around to unplug anything, just remove the screws and pull the whole assembly out. I don't know if this is it or not but its something to think about.

Have Fixed this Problem on many Instrument clusters

If you remove the cluster and disassemble it to the printed circuit. Inspect the board, where the connector contacts the pins in the circuit board, with a magnifiying glass. Look for hair line cracks where the pins are soldered into the board. You can resolder the cracks with a fine soldering iron. Be careful, too much heat and to much solder you can ruin the board.

have the same problem ,or close. seems to be fine all winter long when summer rolls around and it gets hot it goes crazy now and again. I get the no bus,ccd on overheard and the gauges either go crazy or quit working. no fix yet, just dealing with it. keep me posted on any progress. by the way mine is a 99 also.

Two connectors on the back of the IC. The one on the right is prone to lose connection, not getting-giving signals to the PCM. There is a TSB for this and an updated connector.

the conector on the right is the one you are talking about and dodge makes a new replacement conector for that problem i have already installed it was like 50 bucks i think comes with new conector and spiles and shrink wrap didnt help.

I need to add something here. I had one of these that I got working by checking all bulkhead connectors, ECM, PCM. , VP44, etc. The one I found suspect was the one under the dash to the left of the pedals. It is the main harness connector. One terminal showed signs of discoloring. Cleaned all and reinstalled with dilectric. Also checked and cleaned all grounds. Customer has been happy for 3 months now.
It is a communication problem and takes little to interrupt the signals.
Hope this helps and good luck.
