I at one time thought I would keep my 05 3500 cc 4x4 stock, though I've made a few mods. The truck weighs in at 8,040 pounds, and does 13. 8's in the quarter. I have a turbo, injectors, intake, exhaust, shift kit, converter, and flexplate. I only run a 130 power pup for programming. I'd like to go up to one of the race programs like the crazy larry or PPE. I don't think it will take a lot to get me near the high 12's to low 13's. When do the shafts start breaking on these newer trucks? Who's running a lot faster without shafts? I have my fast truck, though I'd like to see this big boat in the 12's. . I'm tempted to try the more radical program now, though I'd hate to break a shaft in my daily ride. . Any opinions or advice?

Snapping your input shaft is a sound no one should have to hear.

I snapped mine getting on the freeway a while back. Mods are in my sig...

you broke that with just the "hot juice" ??? (according to sig?)

guess i'm living on borrowed time.

gonna pay the piper though in 2 weeks (ouch). .

If you are going to keep drag racing, then billets are must. Espically the input & output, but I'm not sure how long your intermediate will last. If your going to get them done, do them all and be done with it. I'm glad I did.

Yeah, drag racing is really hard on the input shafts especially if you are doing launches over 10 psi. The out puts are kinda cheap also so once you fix the front the problem just moves. If you are racing then do the intermediate shaft also. Breaking an input just needs a few parts replaced most of the time. Breaking an intermediate will neccessitate a major overhaul.

FWI, the guys testing the hardness on these input shafts have reported numbers all over the scale. Explains why some can race and power up and not have problems and others break the shaft leaving Mickey D's.
