I am very interested in continuing to modify my truck, but was wondering at what point is it no longer a daily driver? While following along with what Tommeygun has been doing, is that something that can still be enjoyed without issue to drive and do medium duty towing? I've been down the road with going to far with a street car and don't want to go down that road again. Thanks for the help, love the site!

went across the scales this past monday just shy of grossing 19,000 lbs (18,880) with the dump tailer/truck combo. Towed just fine at my level. :D

I run 508hp/970tq that is more streetable than stock and fixing to go up.

With the common rail you can run what you want on the street. Change setups for towing or drag racing.

thats right billy ram, if you build it right you can have lots of fun later with reliability and drivability, i think the more power i make the better it drives!!!!! Oo. :-laf :-laf :-laf

With the 2nd Gens, it was right around 400rwhp that relaibility started to become an issue. I feel that it's around 450RWHP on the 3rd gens when stuff starts breaking when using all the power all the time.

Can the truck still be daily driven? OF COURSE, and it's alot more fun, and might even get better mileage if you keep your foot out of it, but, when do parts start breaking after extended use? I feel the magic number is ballparking 450rwhp.

My truck, at 516/1022 is a GREAT daily driver. Get's an honest to goodness 20MPG at anything below 68MPH (empty), and is wayy to fun to drive, but, on occassion, I will pop a u-joint, blow up the differential, snap an input shaft, break a clutch, or transmission, or break the engine.

Is it fun? Yes, Is it Daily Driven, absolutely,, I have 60,000 miles on the curent setup. Is it reliable? I wouldn't say so. It's at a shop right now getting the 6-speed rebuilt, and a new clutch. The break before that, it was getting new u-joints (only 5k on the last set and the burned up with too much towing)

That's my take.

Thats why I like my TST PMCR - I have been driving on 1x1 the last couple of days to see whats its like - Feels like about the high 300's in the HP...

of course a ford was at a stop light with stacks, So I calmy took the tst up to 6x6, and it was on like donkey-kong!

Lucky I teased him up to like 30mph before I punched it (enough to get that 66mm spooling) and I ate him for dinner. From a stop I would have been toast!

I just love the "dial-a-HP" ability of the 3rd gen... .

I generally drive mine arround with the tst on 5/5 and the va3. 1 off. When I need power in a hurry I just flip a switch. The SledPuller spools right now on this setting.

Thanks for all the responses! While we're at it , is a FASS 150 to much for stock injectors? I currently have a TST and Stage 2 aFe and am planning to keep going with the mods and would like to do the things in my ability (fuel pump and gauges) before sending it to a shop for the rest(injectors, transmission, and turbo). Still undecided about which transmission and converter(my head is spinning over all the possibilities) but am looking forward to the project. Thanks again! Neil. Oh, by the way, 2004. 5 325/600.
