WHen I Sell my 03 in a few years is it worth more with OEM bumpers or Buckstop's

I just installed my Buckstop Front and rear bumpers, on my 2003 all White Sport. Now I need some opinions. WIll the truck be worth more/easier to sell with the Buckstop front and rear bumpers, or should I keep the OEM White Sport bumpers and put them back on when I sell the truck. I am looking at 3 to 4 years before I sell ? What is a reasonable price to sell OEM front and back SPort Bumpers for ?

I may offend some people (sorry), but I'd never buy a truck with aftermarket bumpers.

I would keep the OEM bumpers. I wouldn't buy a truck without them either.

It could go either way - some people will be offended by aftermarket bumbers, others will realize and agree upon their added value. I personally wouldn't mind looking at a used truck with buckstops, but a stock truck is a safe bet when it comes time to sell.



If you decide to sell them, find out what your dealer sells them for retail, and start at about 40% off that price.

Don't worry about offending anyone, this is suppose to be a truck site, not a flower site.

I don't think they will add any thing at all, if you trade it in, the blue book gives you something like 100. 00 for the custom bumper. If you sell it your self, you might re-coop a little more, it all depends on who is doing the looking, and of-coarse how good you can talk. I have customized many vehicles and even built a few, I do it because I like to do it. I know you never get back what you invested, fact is you will be doing good if you recover 50% on a race car. And on the truck, you would be doing very well if you got 25% of your investment back, that's just how things go. I myself would never buy a vehicle that has been customized, changed much from it's original state. I like to know what has been done, and how it was done. Most don't keep accurate records showing what brand,part number, size, etc. . I do, and I like to have it for future reference. I think anyone that plans on possibly adding to or customizing their truck should sit down and not only plan it out, up answer a few important questions before any action is taken. 1) how long do you plan on keeping this truck? 2) What is the trucks main role, what will you be doing with it? 3) How much do you want to invest? Those three questions will help. Bottom line is you must plan on not recovering any of which you have invested, do what you do for your enjoyment, and enjoy it while it's there.

When I lived in Kansas the guy's that lived out of town some distance were always hitting dear. If I had been one of them I would have happily bought a used truck with a real bumper. After all, a bumper has little to do with how a truck's been maintained.

Bumpers don't show how a truck has been maintained, you are right. But I think anytime you add an extra 300-400lbs that far out over the front axle, it will accelerate wear on the front suspension, especially if the truck was used off road.

I agree with Y-knot. Truck will be a faster, easier sell with the stock bumpers. You won't get anything for your custom bumpers selling them with the truck (the opposite, probably). Keep the stockers and replace them when selling.

I would keep the stocks and put them back on to sell the truck. Then try and sell the buck stopers that would work out better i would think.

Most of you guys are smart individuals who love your trucks and "think outside the box" when it comes to what mods of any sort may have done to your truck.



I think the average Joe is not this picky about his truck. The average joe will want to get the most for his money and will concede some wear over some nice custom upgrades he knows he will probably never get to put on himself.



My opinion though would be to keep the stockers and put them back on when you sell. Though people in general may not care if they are on or may even want them on, they will not pay you extra for it and trading it to the dealer would put you even worse off. Sell them seperate and make a little money back, selling the stockers now wont return you as much as selling the buckstops a few years from now.

i bought them used them enjoyed them. will have something like them on my new truck don't like to store junk and trip over it for 3 or 4 years just my 2 cents worth

Honestly heavy bumpers would turn me off. This is MY OPINION ONLY!!!, but I look at trucks with heavy bumpers and figure that the owner put them there for a reason to "push, pull, etc. " from. 70% of the guys fit into this catagory around here, 10% would put them on for preventive reasons like you, and then the other 20% would put them on because are they "push, pulled, etc. with the stock bumper and found out they are tin foil.



I would take those stockers (put a good coat of wax on them) and through them up in the attic out of the way. It would really struggle buying a truck with heavy bumpers since they can take alot of abuse and just get touched up with a spray bomb... .

I'd buy with buckstops in a heartbeat, and so wood most where the opportunity for an animal hit is there- IMO.



I'd like to convert to a white sport though so I'm biased- PM me if you sell. What are they worth?- what does a junkyard get for a front clip. don't forget mopar4less new pricing too- that's your competition.

Some how this thread got off subject a little, it wasn't suppose to be a debate for or against Buckstop or any other aftermarket bumper. Just simply would he get anything more if he sold the truck with the bumpers. I still think most people would like them, just don't count on it when it's time to sell. And don't plan on recouping your investment, if you like them then good get them and enjoy them. I like the look and protection the bigger bumpers have, that is why I bought them. I don't care who else likes them or don't, I do and that's what is important. Also I am not concerned about re-sale value, I am one of the few on this site that plans on keeping his truck till it rust outs, that was the whole ideal behind buy a Cummins.
