Father / Daughter and saying good-bye

I was "helping" my dad in change oil in a truck. He had to answer the phone just before he "thought" he was ready to put the oil back in. He gets off of the phone, climbs up on the truck and pours about 8 gallons in before I see oil creeping all over the floor. He went to the house while I got/had to clean up the mess... . and he was the one who forgot to put the plug in. Go Figure... what are children for anyway?

This kid did that... ... ... not with 8 gallons! Uggh! Can you imagine if Dad had sythetic back then. $$$$$$$$$$$$$$.

Years ago we were all drunk an happy on a Saturday putting together a Phord 390, all done went to fire it up... nothing! Hummm? After a hour or so of messin with it a neighbor kid said "what are those"... ... rockers and pushrods in a box. DUHH. Ah well, I TRIED TO BY-PASS THE CUSSING FILTER happens.

When I was a lad

Me and pa overhauled a 4 speed transmission out of a jeep, we got it all done and went for a test spin, we made it 1 block when it locked up, turns out that a big screwdriver was left in the transmission and some how it got bound up in the gears:eek:

This screwdriver is still mounted on a beam above my dads bench , I told my dad that that screwdriver is mine some day when he passes and as far as all the money , I told him to spend every cent he has and dont worry about anything else:D

I was about 17, first oil change on my first truck, a 55 GMC. Boy was I glad I did it the oil was as thick as molasses and only about a quart of it. Changed the filter and added one quart to bring it up to full on the dip stick. About two thousand miles later the transmission starts making a hellalish noise and seizes, I had drained the transmission. Good Friday in Cortez, Colorado, snowing, I was stuck till Monday for a $100 junkyard transmission. 40 years ago this week.
