I am ordering a new truck. The dealer said that he couldn't guarantee the $2,500 cash allowance. He could only offer the cash allowance at the time the truck is delivered, whether it be lower or higher. I've read on here that dealers have offered the cash allowance that is the largest between time of order and delivery. Is my dealer pulling the wool over my eyes or is this legit?

Nope, the dealer is right. The incentive is only good when you pick up the truck not order it.

unless you throw a fit and tell him to stick it in his ass on the way out of the showroom! :)

Well, this conlicts what I and others have been told.

I was told "sold order protection" (I think Tomeygun can confirm this).

In other words, currently, there is a $2000 rebate + 0% for 48 months. That offer currently expires (unless they extend it) on 3/1/04.

I ordered my truck on 1/17, and right on the pink order sheet, salesman wrote $2000 + 0%. My truck won't arrive at the dealer until mid-March, but I will still qualify for this.

If this is NOT true, and am gonna be REALLY ******.

On edit: here is a thread about this same subject over on DTR:

Second edit:

I did a little researching in the forums. It appears that this subject has come up before, and that some dealers follow this practice, and some don't. PLUS - they have only discussed rebates. Nothing about FINANCING. So, I recommend that anyonw who is COUNTING on 0% for a certain period, run some numbers to make SURE you can afford the loan if you can NOT get 0% because the offer has run out.

you are guaranteed at a minumum the rebate/finance plan (whichever you choose) in effect when you order. if the plan becomes better at the time of pickup, you will get the better plan. thats the way it was explained to me. so there is no down side to it.

In November when I bought mine, I took the $2500 and financed 1/3 through my home equity loan at 3. 5% Ill have it paid off by next year with a little luck. My option in November was $2500 OR 0%. . Not both. BUT..... I got the truck for $33,000 out the door plus the warranty. 7/100k zero deduct DC warranty was $2600. I feel that was a well worth option just for the peace of mind!

The incentives are what ever they are when delivered. If the dealer guarantees it, he is doing it without the help of DC.

sorry to say, but that is just plain wrong...

True it is not as easy as it sounds, but if the $2500 is gone and you pick up the your truck say a week later, i apply for "price protect - code 27C52 ... but i have to have proof that the prder was placed with in the time frame of the rebate i am applying for (the one that is gone now)

only catch. you have to take delivery with in 5 calendar days of it hitting my lot... sometimes that is hard
