I realize covid put a dampener on everything but any solid ideas of when the newer RAM will come out with an 8 or 10 speed. If they do Im going to upgrade. Dave Smith sales said 2022 orderable now but no transmission change so looks like another year?

And I say who cares. 6 speed does the job well with the straight 6.

Id agree, but the AISIN is much better IMHO than the 68.. If I were a betting man, I'd say they would change it with the full model change of the truck and not before since I doubt they are loosing sales because of the trans...

I had the 68 in my 11 HO DRW for 65k and towed a combined 29k with no issue. I did run the HE!! out of it when I pulled out of Dave Smith all the way home per Service Manager.

I know I have an older 3rd gen truck with the 68RFE in the truck, but my trans has been trouble free for 142,000 miles on the OD. Truck has been modified with a Smarty S67 on CaTCHER level 3 which adds 60 HP/120TQ to the rear wheels. I tow my 5ER at this setting for the last 120,000 miles and per the “WEIGHT POLICE” I am heavy.

If I was in the market for a new truck I would not hesitate in buying a truck that had the 6 SPD 68RFE in the truck. It is perfectly match for towing and highway driving in my humble opinion.

Considering how bad parts availability is for current trucks how could they build new ones??? I'm curious when the new model will come out as well.

I had a great experience buying through Dave Smith in 2014, but this last summer I tried getting some information out of them via email (like I did the first time) and they dodged me and wanted to have a sales guy call me which I was not interested in. Then my buddy almost bought a truck there, but it turned out they didn't even have what he was told about. Then he found a used one there and asked about the CP3 vs CP4, I think he was looking at a 2019 and the sales guy tried to tell him they "changed it to a CP3". Uh huh. Sure. Anyway, he finally bailed on that deal.
Next one I buy will be through the Lithia dealership in Eugene, OR. They have a reputation for great price and good customer service on Internet sales. Will see. Probably another year or two for me. My experience with their service department this Spring was stellar. They just knocked it out of the park when we showed up with a blown engine.

Glad to hear about the Lithia in Eugene being a good dealer, the one here in Bend is horrible and would make me hesitant to buy a new Ram if I had to relay on this dealer for anything.

Chevy is going to be HP/TQ king in 2022.

To bad they literally have the WORST interior on the market.. and its hard to get past that "angry beaver grill". I don't care how much power if allegedly has if it looks and feels like an 80s city bus inside which is where I spend all my time. Id buy a new Ford before I went back to a GMC dealer.. and I was a "chevy" guy (still am for my classics) but I wouldn't buy a new GM truck built after about 98...
