My truck is nearing 60K miles and was wondering when I should change it out to a new belt (original since new)?

Thanks in Advance.

I have always been overly conservative in the maintenance of my vehicles. One theory would be to replace it now while you have the time and place to do it and hold on the old one in case something down the road happens to it. Another member expressed this opinion with regard to the lift pump. –frank.

I only have 6K on my 02 and I would like to replace it now. I am tired of that churp everytime I shut it off. The goodyear Gatorback don't make that noise.

On my 98 I replaced it around 60K, but it still looked good. Threw the old one under the seat. Now the old one is under the seat of my 02 as a spare.

I replaced mine on the 01 at about 60k I think. I wanted the gatorback as the factory belt wasn't in that bad of shape but was showing signs of needing changing for to long I thought.

I have 107k on my original. I have a gatorback under the seat, just in case. The reason I havn't changed mine yet is because I LIKE the chirp after shutdown. It is like my call sign, people know it is me. Just unfortunatly every other cummins does it too.

Quick, everyone go out and buy a gatorback!!!:)

I changed mine at 120,000 and it did not look all that bad, but I figured I had better not push my luck any farther.

I think my son changed his on his 99 around 110,000. I have changed them in the past when they had a 100,000 on them. Why take a chance.
