Is there any special time that you should have the valves adjusted on my 1995 12 valve? I change the oil every 5000 miles and the filter also. I am just trying to take care of my baby. Now It will sit out there In the garage this winter I hope the diesel fuel holds up. Is there a additive to add to the fuel? I never did add any additive. Here a picture of us getting ready for get together. A little brew don't hurt does It?

Thats a lot of posts to not have your truck profiled, I think that the manufacture says about 30,000 but after the 1st if you check every 40-50 to see how close , one of the symtoms is a ruff idle , as far as additives most fill stations switch to winter blends as seasons change , but with the new laws adding for lube is a good idea , some of the most popular seem to be diesel service or is it power service [ dang that oldfarters] Lucus, and a bunch that will come as people post , but for lube if any body is selling bio diesel in your area than at least a 2% but with winter maybe less than 30% without anti gell aditives and winterblend dino, pertty soon your becoming a chemist if your doing your own.

I forget what the book says, but you'll be able to tell. My truck started running kind of "edgy", not nice and smooth. Did the valves, some of the exhausts were . 004 off. Cleared up the roughness and runs happy again.

The book says every 24K. I do mine every 25K because it fits my 5K oil change interval.

Frigging the dowell pin is a real PIA the first time. So mark the dampner pulley after you find TDC and you won't have to do it again. You can use a barring tool, my preference, or a 7/8" socket on the alternator bolt to rotate the engine. Then rotate 360* and do the other half.

for some great instructions.
