This past Feburary I found out my truck does not like -15F. Our second morning in CO it got that cold and I was not plugged in. After I tried to start it I swear I heard the truck ask, " You got to be kidding, right? ". After a few failed attempts I found a plug and waited before trying again. I have the higher wattage element in my truck and it did not take very long to get enough heat to finally start it up. I learned after that to plug it in with a timer while we are there. Here at home anytime it gets in the 40's or lower I plug mine in. Thats not cold but it is convenient and more polite to my neighbors being I can just start up and leave.
As far as antigel I have always used Power Service with good results. Usualy once we get to our destination in CO I will top off with fuel and add a little more antigel to the tank. So far so good.
