never owned a diesel before any help is appreciated of course dealer want you to use theirs at 25.99 per 2.5 gal checked napa 14.99 Walmart and home depot 12.99 they all carry peak blue def but is it safe label I know everybody is using aftermarket any insight would be helpful.

I've been using Peak Blue DEF in my Mercedes Sprinter since it was new. I buy mine at our local tractor supply store.

There are many options out there from 1 and 2.5 gal containers to truck stop pump DEF. I believe that it is more important to worry about it being clean and fresh instead of any specific brand.

I've had my 2014 for a year now and always fill my DEF from the local Love's Truck stop.
Never had any problems and it's half the cost of of getting it in the 2.5 gal jugs. Figure with the number of trucks running through, fresh is not an issue. (Just DON'T try to quick fill from those pumps. Do it S L O W L Y)

I used only the the Peak Blue DEF for the first 35000 miles and since have used both truckstop (PilotFlyingJ) and Peak DEF. Have had no problems so far with a little over 60000 miles now.

Peek Blue as long as it's fresh And Walmart house brand (7.95 for a 2.5 gal jug) Again as long as it's fresh. The Mart by me has a lot of turn over so I know it's good an fresh.

As long as the container has the ISO cert or the API cert it meets standards. I use WalMart brand. The only admonition I have to give is unscrew the cap and make sure the seal is unbroken. This goes for any brand at any price.

I too use the Walmart brand, I'll add this admonition: make sure the little black rubber check valve is in the correct location on the plastic spout when you screw on. I hate when that crap leaks. Also, if you buy extra, it supposed to last longer when stored in colder temps.

I have used blue def and have been using Menards brand they carry It does move off the shelf, plus they put it on sale as they do the oils for under $10.00/2.5 gallon jug. haven't had any problems with it On my 3rd jug

Been using the Peak BlueDEF for more than three years, but used the SuperTech (Wal-Mart "house brand") once. Although it appeared to be OK, I did have a problem a few thousand miles later in which the DEF inject became rather nasty. The dealership tech cleaned it to like new and it has been perfect ever since. While I do not blame the cheaper DEF, the possibility remains that I could have gotten a bad batch.

The Service Manager (very experienced and knowledgeable with all things Diesel) suggested that I:

1.) Verify the date code on the box when purchasing DEF... don't buy and use expired stuff
2.) Do not "top it off" unless you are going to be using a lot of it in a short period of time... wait until it gets down to less than half, then add a 2.5-gallon jug of the stuff.

I drive my Ram ~10,000 miles per year... approximately 1/4 of that is towing the camper, so his advice appears valid.

My 2017 has 130k on it now and has with only a couple of exceptions used the Walmart def at $7.88 for 2.5 gallons (knock on wood no real issues witht e def system. I check the date which is normally printed in plain English, don't need the secret decoder ring to figure it out, though there have been a couple of times where I could find no date on it and I always check the seal.
