Been using the Peak BlueDEF for more than three years, but used the SuperTech (Wal-Mart "house brand") once. Although it appeared to be OK, I did have a problem a few thousand miles later in which the DEF inject became rather nasty. The dealership tech cleaned it to like new and it has been perfect ever since. While I do not blame the cheaper DEF, the possibility remains that I could have gotten a bad batch.

The Service Manager (very experienced and knowledgeable with all things Diesel) suggested that I:

1.) Verify the date code on the box when purchasing DEF... don't buy and use expired stuff
2.) Do not "top it off" unless you are going to be using a lot of it in a short period of time... wait until it gets down to less than half, then add a 2.5-gallon jug of the stuff.

I've been driving a First Gen for years so this DEF stuff is a bit new to me. But I recently discovered that if I wait until the "Low DEF" light shows up on my dashboard then my DEF tank will hold a full five gallons -- after which I can run about 5,000 miles before I need to think again about DEF.

Tractor Supply sells Traveller brand DEF in 5-gallon buckets for about $18. This not a bad price and I always have need for an extra bucket...

I just bought the Peak Premium for 19.00 . Guess I got hosed?

I’ve read a few things on the premium and I’m not sure anything is premium about it other than the price.

If you have a local truck stop that sells DEF use that.
