Where Are Dealers Who Satisfy??

I am located in the Northeast Detroit Metro Area. I am looking to have a local Dodge dealer install a factory Jake Brake.



I had considered having this done at the dealer where I bought my truck, but was disappointed in their attitude during my last visit for some minor warranty work. I have installed a BD X-Monitor in my truck and asked about issues with this modification.



The two diesel techs I spoke with indicated that they could not warranty any part that was marginal. The part would have to fail before DCX would let them warranty charge a replacement. My example was a seeping power steering hose. They indicated that the hose would have to be dripping on the floor before DCX would authorize repair.



Furthermore, they indicated that whenever a CTD needs warranty work, the DCX Warranty police want to investigate each and every occurrence. There have been cases where DCX denied payment or charged back the dealer when DCX found warrantied return parts acceptable.



More to the point, the diesel techs advised that whenever a CTD with any modifications what-so-ever comes in for warranty work the police look for any and every way possible to deny warranty coverage. (How would they know unless someone told them?)



This means that those of us who choose to protect our investments by monitoring engine functions, reducing trans. and egt temps, or improving fuel filtration are now to be treated like criminals. Gauge installation is the leading indicator the police use to launch a full court investigation. I am NOT a cheat. I am NOT a liar. Why are we treated like some sort of low life just because we want to protect our investments???



Now I understand how these companies get the glowing J. D. Power conditions per hundred scores.



Before I fall off of this soapbox let me ask the question.



Does anybody out there know a dealer in the Metro Detroit Area who is customer oriented AFTER THE SALE??? I am looking for a dealer who understands those of us CTD owners who only want to improve our trucks not abuse them. If I can find such a dealer, I will reward them with my business now and in the future.

I can't believe it. Nobody in the Detroit area knows a competent, fair, reliable dealer anywhere in the area?? Why, every Mopar dealer in the world claims to be a FIVE STAR Satisfaction Dealer. But, is there nobody in The CTD Registry that will agree with these claims??



Why in the he## do we spend all of this cash with dealers who refuse to satisfy the customer?? I believe that as a group, we represent some of the most loyal Mopar and Cummins customers. Why won't the dealers and DCX show more vision and keep us coming back for more new trucks by making the dealer experience a pleasant one??



As for me, I had a GMC D/A before this CTD. The GMC Dealers treated me like I was a nuisance when I needed warranty work and did everything they could to frustrate and belittle me. The only way I got service was to know a dealer tech. Based on my GMC dealer experience, I will forever do everything in my power to discourage any potental GMC customer I come into contact with.



I cannot do this with Mopar, as I am a DCX retiree, and know how important it is to retain customers and protect my future. But, make no mistakes, anyone who is treated poorly by a Mopar dealer will become a totally negative spokesperson for DCX.



Let me ask once more?? Does anyone in the Detroit area know a dealer who is fair, reliable, and honest, in dealing with his service customers???

I wonder about asking in the Michigan forum. I know there are a few guys down in that area, but not necessarily 3rd gen forum readers. Also the title should have Michigan or Detroit area in it.

I knew the diesel mechanic at Vin Devers Dodge in Toledo years ago. Good guy to deal with, but I have no idea if he's still there. Pretty far for you too.

If I had my heated shop, I'd say c'mon up here for a little wrenching get together. I really miss the BOMBing sessions at the Macomb Community College's shop. You'd meet some other members, get the help you need on it in a huge heated shop area, then go to Hooters after.

Sorry I can't help exactly. But I just had a cracked exhaust manifold replaced under warranty on my new (to me) 06, and asked if they'd mind ensuring there was a tapped hole for the EGT. They said no problem, and didn't even charge for the tap and plug (since the gauges are still being shipped to me they're not in it yet... ). Of course they're in Yakima, WA, so a bit out of the way for you. Keep heart, there are decent service departments out there. Five star or not.

I'm lucky to have a fine dealer near by. "Triangle Dodge" They like my truck. But A lot of folks have left Carolina Dragway and went to the Dodge dealers.

I try to be a good representative.

There are some good dealers and bad but I think how you present your self has a lot to do with the service you may get. If I have a bad experiance with a dealer I wouldn't go back. It doesn't seem to be worth the agravation to try to go to Diamler.

I had to get away from the Twin Cities metro area to find a good dealer. Go outstate a little. Surprisingly enough, 6 years ago when I was getting frustrated with the big city dealers, dad called some number for DC and they recommended going "out-state" and even gave him a few #'s to try. That's how I ended up with my dealer. Sorry, but I don't know what # he called, but I'm guessing it was just a generic customer support line. They keep track of what dealers get complaints and which ones don't, they'll help you out.

Okay guys, I will travel up to 100 miles to find a good dealer. Tell me there is at least one fair, reliable, honest dealer within 100 miles of Detroit. This is really a serious problem for DCX if their dealers are perceived as unfair, unreliable, and dishonest.



The sad part of this is that DCX should be striving to keep their customers happy and loyal. If this were done, perhaps they would not have to slash 13,000 jobs as announced today. It is ominous that the reductions in force come mainly from truck plants. (Newark, DE, and Warren, MI)



I'm still looking for dealers who satisfy customers!

I've never had a problem at my dealer. Always been helped and warranted. And have never took my edge stack out, when i have visited the dealer for warranty work. Bought most of my performance mods through the dealer's part dept. If your really interested in customer service, look up Bernards Northtown, New Richmond WI. Its on the west side of WI about 45 min. from the twin cities area. Out of all the dealers i had checked in the twin cities area i choose Bernards Northtown because of the mass majority of dodge manuals on the lot. More Cummins on the lot than any other dealer in the area, used and new.

I have heard that Mt Clemens Dodge has a couple pretty good diesel techs.



Also, in Richmond, Dick Huvaere's is supposed to be decent and they do sell a LOT of vehicles.



Personally, I do not care for the Sales staff at Mt Clemens Dodge, but have a friend who referred me to them from the service side of things...

Dodge Dealers

BILL LUKE DODGE IN PHOENIX- sold me a 2006 -2500 delivered it in Blythe. While my check was clearing, the sales manager called and said he would not release the vehicle to me and to stop pmt on my CHECK, If i wanted the truck I could have it for another 7k. This after hearing what a reputable man BILL LUKE was from many salesmen in his staff, his son who runs the store did not even have the courtesy to call me back himself. BILL LUKE IS NOT A REPUTABLE DEALER. HE DOES NOT HONOR HIS OWN CONTRACTS. :--)

I go to Grand Vennen in Lowell MI. I do not have any mods though, so I do not run into the warranty arguments...



They treat me very well, and did a great job installing my Jake Brake.



The only issue I have is that their service waiting area is too close to new car/truck sales area and I get tempted while waiting...
