I can't seem to find a place in or near Sacramento, CA to buy Lubegard, the automatic transmission additive recommended by Bill Kondolay. The only choice seems to be on line or mail order. Does anyone know of a store where I can buy it off the shelf?

Joe,
This is available at transmission shops ask for the red lube guard, lubeguard is a product name manufactured by international lubricants. The customer service number is 1-800-333-5823.

My dad recommends this product when using dextron 3 in the dodge transmissions. Here are some of the features they listed on the packaging:

-Maxizes overall performance
-Inhabits overheating and fluid oxidation
-Insures proper lubrication in cold weather
-Eliminates objectionable noises during shifts
-Reduces temperature
-Reduces wear on metal parts
-Reduces varnish and sludge
-Extends transmission life
-Increases fluid life
-Prevents clutch chatter and torque converter shudder
-Prevents hung governors
-Keeps valve free

I found some at the NAPA store on Power Inn Road. I stopped at another NAPA store yesterday and they didn't have it. The twit behind the counter had never heard of it. Thanks to you guys that replied.

Joe,

Let us know how it works. I've got two bottles sitting on on the shelf but haven't put any in yet. I put in TFOD shift kit and and Mobil 1 ATF and it shifts fine without it. I understand the the electronically controlled transmissions (mines not its a RH not an RE) need it cause the electronics try to compensate for the extra grip of the Dexron type fluid and actually cause excessive slippage.

What year is your truck?

briand,

My truck is a '95 with a 47RH. I got it because Bill Kondolay highly recommends it. The ATF in mine is a little low right now so I thought this was a good time to give the stuff a try. The last time I changed fluid in mine the gasket decided to leak a little. I fixed that last weekend and ended up just a little on the low side but adding a quart would probably put it over the max point. Maybe Bill will chime in here and tell us about the stuff.

Bill/Stefan, is lubeguard an option with a 93-A518 using amsoil type 3? I have the +4 atf in a box i just need a new gasket and one of your VB's when I can find the $$. Should i use it with +4??

BushWakr,
If you are using the Amsoil +3 or +4 ATF, you should not put anything else in it. It has what it needs already, and to do so, you could upset the chemicals that are already in it. This is a very high quality ATF.

Best regards,

Wayne
