Where can I find a key fob for an 06 3500?

I would like to find a key fob without the key part which would be easier to carry in the pocket. Why they combined the two (the fob and the ignition key) is beyond me. Also is there a way to lock the vehicle while it is idling? I tried to flip the switch on the door and it unlocks when the door is ****. The F150 I drive has a key pad on the door which can lock and unlock while the rig is idling.

The rental car companies were cutting the key part off and putting them inside the steering column. I think I locked mine with it running.

I bought a key with the transponder chip (no remote) for mine online, but I checked my bookmarks and that link doesn't work anymore. Check ebay or do a google search. I had the new key cut at a hardware store (I also bought a key without the chip at the hardware store and they cut both keys). The key with the chip must be programmed, it requires two working keys (with chips) to do it yourself - instructions are in the owners manual. It took me a dozen times through the sequence to get it to work. The key without the transponder is in a magnetic box somewhere around the truck - if you start the truck with it the truck will die after a few seconds. A key with the chip runs around $20, a key with a remote is around $100.

If you don't have two working keys you have to go the the dealer to get a new key to work ($$$).

I have locked mine by pushingf down all the door locks except the drivers door, exit truck the lock door with a plain (unchipped key) I carry in my pocket. bg
