The 42x25. 00x20 tires are use for agriculture . They are about 43 in. by 24 in. wide.

I need this type of tire for my Unimog rig. I do a little hunting here in Alaska and my rig is in the heavy side (swamp is a no go). The price they quote me is around $1,200. --each, so , I am looking in the second market.

If anybody know where I can find this type of tire, I would appreciate very much. . . . . . . . Ric :D :D

Tires for off roading in Alaska.

Are you talking about 48x25x20s? you wouldn't want to go to

the short ones fi you're serious about using it as a buggy. You

could go to 21. 5x16. 1s for a lot less money they run a little over

42 inches tall but I think you'd be better off with 18. 4x 16. 1s

which run about 46 inches tall.

Tires

I seem to recall that Diversified Tire in Wasilla had some good deals this fall. You might want to give them a call.

Also they can supply wheels with standard bolt patterns or without centers for custom bolt patterns I believe.

Will those tires even fit on a unimog? We run them on our M-37 but it seems like you would have sheetmetal issues on a 'mog.

They sure are the only way to go when it comes to the wet stuff, I had swamp water over the running boards this year and it just

kept chugging along. Make Swampers look pretty lame!

Hi Gus, Isaac:

The tires that I'm looking are 42x25. 00x20

I can't go with the 18. 4x16. 1 or the 21. 5Lx16. 1 because the disk brake of the Unimog is about 17 plus inches .

I did talk with Diversified Tires of Wasilla but they could'nt help.

I agreed that the 18. 4x16. 1 are less expensive tires. The 42x25x20 are almost the same size but cost 3 time more, you fig. why? .

The Unimog weight 6000 lbs + in the front and 3000 + in the rear, empty. The good about is 18 inches clearance in the botton and Air lock on both axles. It have a lot of hydraulic to hook up, maybe I find something to do with it.

Hey Ric,

Welcome to the TDR... If you are interested we have a local chapter here in the Anchorage area... actually it seems its based in Wasilla as that is where our meeting usually occur. Any way if you are interested we are having one next weekend and I assume that Gus will be there... Check the local chapters section for more info.

By the way. . what kind of Mog do you have?? I have been looking for one for a while and would really like to see yours.

Hi John,

I'm normally out of town on weekends, so I can't go to the chapter meeting.

The mog is a U-900, ex "Case" deck (MB4/94) '82.

It was use by the military first. I mod. so I can use it to go hunting. Everything is heavy duty. But I don't like the inside cabin; is very limited the space. Next time I would look the next size up, like the U-1200, U-1500, etc. But, again, the U-900 is very common in compare with the others, so reality speaking, much easy to find parts.

If I managed to transfer a picture of my mog to the computer I will posted.

Keep in touch . . . . . . Ric
