Larry, the guy I knew with the 75' hole had a diesel tank,so I guess it makes no difference. Your right though, gasoline tends to travel further in the soil. A gas station here in Chelan wanted to get rid of diesel and have another unleaded tank. They had to dig up the diesel tank and haul it to the tank dump in Edmonds. New underground gasoline tanks have to be double walled,he couldn't use the old diesel tank for gas.

My $0. 02... ... ..... been there done that.

You'll be cursing those Jerry cans. Illflem has sage advice. Go buy four or five drums and a good, medium-priced pump with a good hose and nozzle. As the years go by, you'll find this to be a good investment. #ad

Larry, and others, you could save a couple bucks if you get a pump from a farm supply place, like CT or TSC. At least for the 12 volt models.
I have a hand crank model, and it works fine.

patriot, agree on the hand pumps, many times they are faster. With a good hand pump and arm you can get up to 20 gallons per minute. You can get an electric pump for diesel much, much cheaper than one for gas. Gasoline pumps need to be explosion proof, for the obvious reasons, diesel pumps don't. 12 volt pumps are cheaper than 110 also, why I don't know.

Thanks for all the replies.

55 gallon drum would make more sense, but getting it off the truck when it's full would be a real scream.

I thought about the 275 gallon tank and just get it filled from the local fuel guy. I'm a little concerned about how long it would take to empty the tank and what that last 20 gallons would be like.

The 275 tank and fuel oil aint gonna cut it. Cetane and lubericity issues.

Bed tank is an idea, but I dont think I want to spend that kind of money, plus I dont want to be hauling it around all the time.

It's a toss up: 5 gallon round plastic or 5 gallon rectangular metal.

Thanks.

Gregor, just remember it's going to take 7 of them to fill your tank. If getting the barrel out of your truck is an issue just siphon or pump it into a barrel on the ground. Just trying to make life easier for you. Good luck.

Like I said before. Get the 45 degree funnel and the 5 gallon plastic race jugs that Jegs sells. The spout of the cans is directly in the middle of the top of the can. No need to burp it. I can flow the 5 gallon can very quickly. Plus they don't weigh that much and they don't dent or rust. You can literally just throw them around. Like I said the stuff paid for itself after the 3rd fill up.

If you want you can check out what I have. I see that you only live 30 minutes away. I go down to rehobeth to my house quite frequently. So maybe on the way down sometime if you like I could show you what I use.

Dont let the cetane and lubericity issues skew your decision.
My truck ran better on "red". More power (yes it's noticeable) and better MPG's.
There is a slight inc. in smoke. No big deal.
I used a lot of conditioner. Red comes with no inj cleaner etc.
My brand says 1oz per 12 gal, I use 1oz per gallon! #ad

Of course, I was just experimenting. I would NEVER use this on a daily basis. #ad
