Where did my mileage go?

First of all let me say i now have 285's on the truck,50 p. s. i. That being said my question is how did i go from 525-550 miles per tank to 400?I know the bigger tires didnt eat that much. I changed my fuel filter yesterday,looked pretty good. Truck only has 2,200 miles. Got me scratching my head. . Went from 15. 5 m. p. g. to like 11. 5. Im not liking this too much. Any idears???? Are your calculations taking into account the larger tires?



Remember the tire is larger in diameter. Therefore for each revolution you are traveling farther. You have to adjust the miles driven acordingly. Unless you have had the computer adjusted for the larger tire size the overhead console will be off as well.

Mark I think that we got winter fuel!All the equipment at work is using about 10% more fuel than they did a month ago. I know mine is down to about 13. 2mpg. That is done on calculator,not overhead computer.

Mine dropped a bit too. Only change was addition of tow mirrors. Went from getting about 20 to about 18 over time. Changed the fuel filter. Maybe an air filter is next. (about 14k on it now) I'm wondering what else changed.

Guess it could be winter fuel. I do my calcs manually so the computer can be eliminated from the list. I will keep watching it. Thanks. Mark.

The winter mix is a killer on mileage. Some brands are WAY worse than others, not sure what they might add besides K1 or Stove Oil, something our girls don't like for sure!
