I'm looking to purchase a set of Hadley or Grover Air Horns. JC Whitney Doesn't seem to have em and I'm looking for these two Companies (Brand Loyalty I guess). I'm (of course) am looking for the best price with either mail order or internet to avoid taxes.

Any ideas? I have searched (on TDR & the net) and have not come up with anything conclusive.

Anybody have a particular company they have had good luck with?

Thanx

Hey Kevin, try this link. . . . http://www.jcwhitney.com/item.jhtml?ITEMID=174

I noticed JCWhitney's website has changed a bit and they lump different combos of air horns under a link that looks like a single item. The link I gave you is the Hadley air horns. I just got a set in just 2 days before I flew back east, but haven't gotten them in yet. The kit looks quality.

Kevin, Vaughn is correct. I got my Hadley Bulleys from JC Whitney. Suggestion when you install, locate the compressor as close to the air tank as possible. I keep blowing fuses because my compressor is behind the front bumper and my air tank is in front of my rear tires.

Rickson sells an air horn kit, but I am not sure who's kit it is. Mine came from a number of different places, some of it from a heavy truck wrecking yard, some of it from JC Whitney, and a little from eBay.

Mactruck,

When you find the best place to purchase the air horns could you let me know where you got them? I am also looking into getting a set for my truck.

ok guys-- got mine from jc whitney. vaughn's got the right link.

kev--when ya get'em, my buddy may be able to help with the install. you've seen mine.

thomas-- All Grover's?? does this mean the stuttertones too?

'cuz those are the only one's i'd trade my hadleys for...

The JC set looks nice...........

All except for the lanyard. I would want a relay tied into my existing horn ciruit. I saw a thread a while back that had some links to Hadley and Grover horns. Some of those systems had sloenoids for actuating the horns.

Now that my transmission work is done I think it's one of the last things I want to do. Make the horn match the truck. That stock one sure is whimpy!!!:(

If you are looking at the Grovers, they are what I have, don't buy them from anyone but Ricksons. Man, they are great. I had many problems with the pump and solonoid that came with the set from Grover. Ricksons was always there to help fix at no charge what went wrong. They finally resorted to an after market pump and solonoid. Those Grovers are wonderfull and they were made that way by Ricksons. :D

tntway - ALL Grover horns, at least according to the flyer that I received from Rickson two weeks ago. That includes the Stuttertones (both round and rectangular bell) along with the compressor to drive them.

The kits from Rickson shown in the flyer also show a compressor from Thomas Pumps. The Thomas pump is NOT the compressor show on the GROVER site. I imagine that it is much better.

big white beast

jc's have both lanyard and horn button activated. i got the button ones. hooked 'em into the stock horn circuit and left the

stock d/c'd.

Where does everyone have thier horns/air tank mounted? I looked around under the truck last night and didn't see any place I really liked.

I have a 22" grover and an air tank from Wal-mart. No compressor, yet. I'm planning on running w/ just the tank and filling from the garage comp. as needed.

thanks in advance

Jeff

My Grover 22" horn is located in the cavity behind the front bumper just in front of the right wheel well.

My air tank is welded to a piece of angle iron and then bolted to the passenger side frame rail just behind the cab, and under the box. There is plenty of room in that location for a tank. It's made from a piece of 8" stainless steel pipe with welded end caps (no rust). ... ;)

VAUGHN MACKENZIE: Let me know how your install goes.

TNTWAY: I'll be giving you a call to have you come by and give me hand for a Pop (Soda pop in your case :()

hey mactruck!!

kev--you still have the stock airbox right?? if you do, we'll hafta find another place for the compressor. oh is that gonna be TWO sets??

BTW-- de-badged the truck today. damn it looks sweet!!!

I actually got my Hadley's from F%rd. They have kits for trucks w/wout air brakes. The kit includes a 2 gallon tank, the horns, vacuum operated air compressor, electric solenoid valve, and hoses & fittings. I installed an electric Grove air compressor because I have the Hydro-boost brakes and low vacuum.

Hey TNT

I'll be getting the BHAF with the Mallory Mountand it will be one air horn for now.

I Know as soon as I' get one she'll want one for B-day, X-mas, Etc... .

I'll be debadging the sides SOON

yeah--looks great!!

just one thing tho', with us being patriot blue and the rest of the glass being dark, the truck really begs to have the front windows tinted now. really looks SWEET!!!:D :D :D
