Where do I find trouble code look up

My buddies truck just had a code 2146 come up how do I tell what it is????? Thanks 573 578 5000

I had that very problem today when looking at a used CTD. I took the code no. to the Dodge dealer, he looked it up and told me what it was.



The truck owner was amazed I could get those from his truck.

There are numerous on line OBDII and CAN Trouble Code lists and database lookups. Google OBDII Codes for more than necessary.



I use this one when I want a quick definition.

I have Dodge Diagnostic Service manuals and DR Service manual for mine that list all codes and diagnostic tests and repair instructions.

One problem with the generic code description is that they are not always a good description and or not accurate enough to aid in troubleshooting. The next thing of course is you must figure out how to test the involved ckts. Your 2146 can be an injector failure or all 3 in the bank. The injector wiring harness for #1,2,3,or #4 which is not even a choice in the d/c manual. Aso you have the engine harness that may have an open or short as well as a failed ECM. Then you can add in to that mix any aftermarket box or downloader on the truck.
