Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Where do I get info on Hotrod VP44

Did a few searches and never vame up with any tech info, just I got one and I want one. What makes them better and more powerful? A website link or some info would be great!

I was told by a major vendor who carried them that they were dropped because of reliability issues. I went with a new (latest version) pump.

I'm waiting to see what comes on the market- & doing a complete rebuild for POWER;

until I get up to that point-fueling, if nothing is made avalible then I'll probally scrap the whole VP-44 deal in favor of a P-7100 Race pump.

Wasnt that Doug at Advansed Diesel, talking about a vp-44 on the horizon. I remeber someone tossing out a nice little tease, but then that was the end of it.

What's a stok vp44 pushing for cc's? What are the "Hot Rod" vp's pushing for cc's. Isnt a Piers stupid pump around 800-900?

What's a Piers stupid pump? I just bought a NEW VP from them. Rebuilt was around $1100 if I remember correctly.

Not sure about CC's. I have heard a million different things about these pumps. I run mine with a Raptor (EZ) and stock injectors (for now) and it really is nice. Much more power than with EZ alone. Also puts down a fair amount of smoke as well, am a little worried about this when stepping up in injector size. I barely ever saw a puff with the EZ and can now really lay it down. No Dyno numbers yet, sorry. My EGT's are also up considerably since installing the HR pump. It is a noticeable improvement for sure! Got mine from Piers not sure who he got it from. Oh yeah, idle seems a bit higher, but I don't remember what the truck used to idle at

Please don't hold me to these numbers but from what I have read hear a guy need around 370 to 400 cc per 1000 strokes to make 500 HP.



I am making 500hp on my stock VP-44 pump



Piers stupid pump is a mofided P-7100 that I beleve started life as either a 180 or a 215 pump till it hit the work bench of a master builder
