I need the upper and lower bearings, spring, lower steering shaft, steel lower shaft coupling and rubber coupling.

My local Dodge dealer tells me that none of these items are available from him.

Where do we go to get these?

Thanks,

Trav

If you fill out your signature it would help with what yr truck you have . Also you will most likly have to check the local wrecking yard's or pick n pull to find part's

Yep..... you're right on that one... . 1993 Dodge D 350 4x4 w/Cummins TD, Getrag 360, & Floor Shifter. I believe the column was used from 1991 - 1993.

Junkyards... ... ... ... ... . here I come!

A bearing house should be able to match up bearings. The rubber coupler is available through aftermarket sources

That would be fine but where do I get the bearings, metal coupling and rubber coupling?

Thank you,

Trav

Check out the Borgeson site. You can get everything you need except for the bearings. As stated you can match them up. They are cheapo bearings.

Thanks for the replies everybody. The lower bearing is toast. I do have the inner and outer races though. Perhaps they can match up something from them.

I found a used column through a local junk yard. It was like picking the haystack for a needle though. This is probably no new news to anybody here but my experience is parts for these generation 1 trucks are seem to be getting rare. Duh!

Perhaps I'll rebuild the column I have for a spare. Where do I find the rubber coupling that goes between the steering shaft & the steering gear?

Thanks,

Trav

Use to have a 56 Chevy 210 series (until the significant other) thought it was better looking rapped round a power pole. But find a specialty shop its so much better than running around picking up parts here and there and spending 3 times as much as just one stop shop. I went to power steering with tilt and swing it was so much better than trying to butch it together. JMO

Borgeson or you can buy the Borgeson replacement shaft without the coupling

Grey Wolf, the cite you listed shows its for a 2nd gen. Will it work on a 1st gen?

Does anyone have a bearing number for the steering column? I don't have an intact bearing to take in to cross to.

Michael

Thanks to Grey Wolf, Mike Miller, Bob 4x4, J Leonard & the rest for your advice. I have two of the bearings, one upper and one lower. Both are intact but badly worn and binding. There are no numbers legible on either one of them and after looking at them through a jewelers loupe I can say there probably never were.

Some respondents to my post here seem to have the idea that because they are cheapo bearings that they are readily available. Perhaps those people have better luck than I have and will anty up now and tell us exactly where we are to go and get them for sure!

I have been to the Dodge dealer, Borgensen, Napa, Applied Ball Bearing, Grainger and numerous others and have had no luck in coming up with these bearings.

This seems to be one of the great mysteries of the universe surrounded by great optimism just no factual answers. At least not yet!
