I like that! but it fits second gen dodge only and not third gen trucks.

I was also going to suggest a holster behind the knee bolster, it doesn't take much, just a quick tug and your handgun is righ there. Here is an good link www.packing.org that lists all of the various state laws for CCW, open and general gun laws including a state-by-state reciprocity map (use the search by state feature on the left hand of the page).

That is probably going to be the best bet. That was what I was thinking of trying with the holster I posted the link to.

Needs to have a flat back so I can double stick it to the bolster.

What I had done to a truck a few years back was actually unstitched the back seat cover on the driver side on the bottom side of the seat... sewed some velcro on both sides big enough to slide my pistol in.

I think I said that.

the seat cover on the back of the seat was velcroed across the bottom. When I got out I could peal it open, slide my pistol in and velcro it back. I dont know about the 3rd Gen seats. If no velcro there, maybe you could retro-fit some.

I have a MI cpl and carry my 380 KelTec in my pants pocket. This gives me quick access both in the vehicle and out. The KelTec is the smallest 380 auto available and is vary easy to conceal. I am good to go in the 31 states that recognize MI cpl. Unfortunately I still have to pack it in the capper when driving through WI and MN on my way out west. Its too bad that the gun owners in those states can not change some of their politicians. By the way, a good source for current state law is " packing.org ".

A customer of mine shot himself in the groin with his . 32 Keltec. He carried it in his right front pocket like a pocket knife. He reached down OUTSIDE his pants to move it in his pocket and POW! I'd suggest some type of holster to at least cover the trigger while carrying in your pocket.

This time around, I went the cheaper route.

Bought a Taurus wheel gun. Its a model 605 in SS. I like this type of gun, because I don't have to worry about maitenance/rust for long periods in the truck.



Its also one of the smallest 357 mags you can buy and its under $300.

Small gun with a BIG punch.

Did you here me say "Ouch" though, when I shot it with full loads? :-laf

I do use an Uncle Mikes "wallet" holster to keep the pocket lint out of the action. These KelTecs are SAO with a trigger pull of about 8 lbs. I guess it is possible to pull the trigger through your pants material, but you would have to work at it. Some people carry with a full clip and an empty chamber to add an idiot proof safety. The trade off is requiring two hands to rack one in and adding about 1 second to being good to go.

Dillon Precision (www.bluepress.com) and cabelas both sell lockable strong boxes that you can bolt to the frame of your bed (the bed you sleep in) or to any other frame you choose to use. They have one that has a bio-metric scanner (recognizes your finger print). You could put bolt it to the framework of your seat and orient it so that all you would have to do is reach under your seat and open it. I have been thinking about it myself.

That way, in the winter or if its raining you are not splashing water on your pistol and corroding it, but it is still quickly available incase that wierdo walks up and stares in your window while you are snoozing at the rest stop!

Believe me, we're trying. When we pushed to override the governor's veto of the Personal Protection Act in January, the bill lost by only two votes. Those "nay" votes belonged to two Democrats who had voted in favor of the same bill before the governor vetoed it, but ultimately caved to his political pressure.

But that's OK, because the governor is up for re-election this November, and the voters won't forget what he did to kill this act! Wisconsin is basically a conservative state being held hostage by a liberal capital city.

A friend of mine just emailed me.

He said get a short piece of coated cable lock and attach one end via a bolt through the floor or one of the seat braces. Then attach the other end to the trigger guard with a combo type lock. Store it (and mounted) in the lower seat console.

That way you can pull it out for a car jack and use it or undo the lock to carry it.

I have had a permit for quite a while and would like a fairly easy access, yet well concealed place to store my pistol. Had my last one stolen out of my center console. I also have an alarm, so looking for a place that only needs to be hidden for a few minutes. not indefinitely.

Under the dash, seat, ect.



Any ideas or experience?

Console Vault. Love it. Secure, exact fit, well-concealed and meets transport requirements in all states. I store weapon(s), mags, GPS, emergency cash there. The weapon is on me or in the vault. The vault opens with a key but if you wanted you could unlock it and drive, I suppose. I wouldn't trust concealment. Thieves know all the hidy-holes and a firearm is a number one target of acquisition. My opinion, but your weapon should be 'on you' in a holster with the proper retention or locked securely in something that would take time and tools to get at, like the Console Vault.



If you've been taught in your training about "The Great FBI Shootout" in the 1980s you know that some Agents bit it because they didn't holster their weapons when in their vehicles. Some had weapons on the seat, under the seat, or wedged in cushions, or elsewhere within 'easy reach. ' The bad guys rammed them and some of Agents died crawling around looking for their weapons lost in the car. Attack me in a vehicle and say 'hello' to Mr. Sig in the time it takes to say, 'one thousand. ' I don't have to reach for anything and if I have to do an emergency egress I have my weapon.



For driving details I use a crossdraw or shoulder rig. Just try sitting on a strong-side pancake holster for a day and see how your back feels.



For pocket holsters (referenced earlier here) I use a Don Hume or Galco, but those aren't acceptable for driving. Somebody would drag you out your truck and kick the snot out of you while you're digging in your pants. Those are for stand-up carry and you have to practice with them.

before my truck got ripped off along with the gun inside it. I had a cheapo nylon holster, I took 2 of the big fat heavy zip ties and zip tied it through the belt loops to the drivers seat frame, It was on the right front seat leg and the drivers seat. the pistol would slide in and the bottom of the grip would rest on the transmission hump. It was perfect open both the doors, you had to almost know it was there as the front of the seats where slightly over its location. It was easy to reach while driving and easy to get back in place.
