Miscellanous ramblings and musings.

How much is enough? Is it this testerone thing? Entry level 300rwhp. Easy enough, DD2's and EZ. 400rwhp, add the standard fare, 4" exhaust, different air intake and a major fueling box. 500rwhp??????????? Add EDM's, different turbo(s) and maybe a drag comp. Am I caught up in this? Yes!!! I have been thru 3 fueling boxes and 2 different sets of injectors. How much is enough? I thought I was satisfied at 300+ hp, wrong! Then my goal was 400, or so I thought because I tow and most vendors will tell you that 350hp is a good number to tow with. Well hell, what would hurt if I got a little more. So I throw bigger injectors (DonM EDM's) in and now I get to 482rwhp. Cool huh? Yeah, for the time being. As I dynoed the 482 I was ecstatic , but then when that had sunk in I said to myself, Damn, if I had been running an PDRHX40 (or the equivalent) I could have broken 500hp. Ok, I get 500+, then why not 600. Let's just add a bigger turbo(s), a bit more fuel and while we are at it, lets just add some water/methanol to the mix and we are there.

Then I think about the 3rd generation. Grab your socks guys and gals cause they are gonna make us look like dog squat. When I did my last dyno, the 482 one, my acquaintance with the DMax (electronics only, stock turbo and injectors) turns an impressive 543 with a slipping Allison transmission. WTF I say? But, congratulations are in order for Jonathan (Got Juice).

Ok then, I am done for now!

I'd say its kinda addicting... and so far it aint enough. Oo.

Yeah my Buddy, Zach (cummins4life), you know where I am coming from. But lest I forget, just let me share this with you. So I'm on my way to May Madness last year. I am towing my 10K 5ver as I want to go in style (even convinced me wife to come with me). We leave from Oregon, go over the Siskyous, Techachapias (sp) and we leave Barstow headed up the Baker grade. I have been running on 1x1 the whole time, power to burn and I am thinking, YEAH, this truck gets it on, and then I get to the Baker grade outside of Vegas. Major construction, traffic slowing to bout 20-25 mph. Boy of boy, I really need all of my power now, don't I? My only thought is, Jeez, can I at least get up to a speed wherein my Torque Converter will lock up? I don't have a transmission gauge, but do have a DD pan. Even if I had a transmission temp gauge, what good would it have done as I had no place to turn out and cool down (cause of the construction) even if I had wanted to.

Oh well, I still love the power and like the rest of us diesel enthusiasts (fanatics) will probably quest for even more. SBT!

Yup, GatorRam. We are in the same boat and sometimes I just know that my wife wonders if I have both oars in the water.

I have had my truck a whopping 4 months. About 3 weeks after I bought my truck I installed my gauges. Then came my exhaust mods. Most recently I added my Power Puck. I hope to have a set of injectors in her within a year. Nope it never stops.

I guess it's like my buddy says... "Well it's better than a poke in the eye. "

Yah, I know where you guys are comeing from, I would love to do more to my truck too but funds are very limited. Say you guys wouldn't have some extra parts you would like to sell would yah. ;)

I go by my friends repair shop every day in my 2003 dualie to just make sure my addiction is still resting comfortably up on the lift. I have not told my BA (Bombers Anonymous) group what I have just done or they would throw me off the 12 step program. I still have not hit bottom yet. ;) Lets see 3 sets of injectors with #4 on the way (Mach 5's), two turbos with #3 (twins, thank you MarkK, KSB1B+B2), 2nd exhaust with #3 (5" thank you Rip) on the way, original head now being polished, ported and fire ringed (thank you MarkK again) and I swear thats all I need. Well maybe just a little bit more.....

215 hp to 300 hp... . $ 1000. 00 Fun

300 hp to 400 hp... . $ 3000. 00 Mustang GT's look out

400 hp to 475 hp... . $ 4000. 00 Sweeeeet

475 hp to 625 hp... . $ 8000. 00 Priceless

Hijacking my own thread, kinda, so to speak.

Yup BillG, maybe just a little more. So I talked to Piers the other day. Now bear in mind that I am running a pubic size PDRHX3514W with a turbo mount PacBrake (yes, all this is on an ETC automatic) and as I didn't want to go thru the hassle of selling my Exhaust brake and replacing it with an inline brake thats why I elected to to with the 35 verses the HX40. I love my turbo, much better than my HY. Howsoever, so I say Piers, would that work for the smaller turbo in a twins setup and he says, yes, as a matter of fact we are testing it with a H3E (or is it H2E, I always get them confused) series turbo and should know something within a couple of weeks. So now the dilema, do I go that route (remember I do tow) or do I wait for the single BIG ball bearing Garrett turbo that he is working on or then what's this about a variable vein turbo coming within the next six months.

It NEVER ends!

yep this stuff is addicting. Never did drugs and dont drink all that much but I'll tell ya, this stuff is bad for you. Seems like I am always thinking about that extra "fix" and how to gain 10 more HP without increasing EGT's. Bought my truck last year Aug. 28th with 13 miles on it. Truck rolled over 50k miles on it yesterday and I am hoping to break 600 hp tommorrow. My chiropractor is making a fortune of me since I got this truck. Any furniture salesman that tells you "this is a comfortable couch" is fulla crap! :D

JR, you will like the DSS. I have one. Reduced wandering by quite a bit.

So r u thinking that the water/meth is gonna get you the 80hp that you need to get over 600? Are you gonna add bigger injectors? If not bigger injectors and you are strictly relying on the water/meth, I may be interested. Please be sure and post your results or better yet PM me. I have a need to know. BTW, I woulda been slightly over 500 also had I been running an HX40. I mean if I turned 482 with a 35, a 40 prolly should have got me an additional 25 putting me at bout 500+.

Try all 3, Rip will appreciate it. :-laf

I'm waiting to see if the BBturbos pan out, if they dont, streetable twins are gonna happen.

I have a 99 Corvette I leased. I started road racing it. Started to mod it so I had to buy it. Now it is a hairs breath away from a full blown race car and I can't really drive it on the street. I am waiting to pull the trigger on the truck and actually called for a Quadzilla box in a moment of weakness. Lucky they didn't call me back in my moment of weakness:--) I did put a fuel pressure gauge in. Now the lift pump is shot. Help me resist. Now my girl friend is buying a Ford Excusion with a diesel and I'm afraid she'll be faster. This will make me power hungry. Oo.

well 2 weeks ago i sold my edge ez and dd1's, now im sitting in my room looking at a set of DD3s, an EDGE COMP, soon hx40 will be here and some exhaust is on its way as well... all awaiting the arrival from DTT hopefully some time THIS WEEK! cant wait to get this stuff in. i have a sickness and i hope its not contagious!!
