where does the grease go to?

Well, I got out my grease needle and some Mobil-1 grease to take care of the double cardan joint on the front driveshaft. Put in a few pumps of grease and it just squirted out the rear part of the mid section and onto the front of the rear joint.



My question is... ... . where does the grease actually go to? I was expecting that there would be some sort of channel machined in there such that it would deliver grease to the needle bearings. What's the purpose of filling up that rubber bushing in the middle?
