I was stopped at the main intersection in Showlow yesterday and saw Ace Hardware's delivery truck go by with 8 ton of wood pellets. It is a Chevy 4500 with a 14' flatbed. I figured his GVW at about 26k on a 16k truck.

Last month there was a guy pulling out of Lowes with a gooseneck trailer loaded with building materials, he turned the whole works over when he hit the main street. Where do these drivers come from?

I pulled out of a narrow driveway with a 14 ft tandem trailer onto secondary hwy at 5:52 pm yesterday. I had to cross over to the other lane to make my right turn. As I straightened up, I'm face to face with a big black Cad SUV with no lights on running in almost dark in the shadow of woods. We have some around here, too.

It's hard for me to throw stones too much, as I grew up in the lumber business and went out ferociously overloaded on a regular basis. I'd like to think I am a little smarter now:eek: However, with the help of the Man upstairs nobody got hurt, and thank goodness for that. I just don't think people are "drivers" today, like when we collectively cut our teeth.

You ask where these drivers come from??? I'm guessing you haven't walked into a DMV in the past decade or so.....? Because if you have then you'd see where you dont need to speak English and/or read English in order to acquire one of these "so called" drivers licenses. Yes.....strangely you dont have to know what the important signs say as you tool along the roadways. Literally anyone can get a drivers license as long as they're capable of filling out the written tests proper check boxes and prove to a DMV ride along that you can navigate through a few neighborhood streets while using your blinkers. Then once that small inconvenience is accomplished and you pay your fee's, you never have to prove your driving skills EVER AGAIN. So.....you wonder why there's so many people out there on the road who seemingly shouldn't be?

My youngest sister's ex boyfriend told me about a truck that had transmission issues... It was refused because it had a bucket centered above a hole cut in the sleeper. Y'all can use your imagination on this one!!

Yes, I am guilty too, however, I usually have 4 axles under me, or when I was hauling logs, 5 axles. 20k on the rear axle of a 4500 Chevy is just insane, yet I see dumb stuff like this daily. I could dime the kid driving the Ace truck out to the yard supervisor ( I know him well) but he don't now squat about trucking either:mad:
