On the 2nd gens its easy. With the way this new manifold is designed wheres everyone putting it? right on the #6 exhaust part of the manifold? Pics? Thanks!

I have seen them all over the exhaust manifold. Some put them in the down section going to the turbo. Needs to be off center as there is a baffle in the middle. Mine are installed on top between cyl 3 and 4. I now have two there about an inch and a half apart. Most say the back 3 cyls are hottest so maybe it would be better to monitor that exhaust section, but mine work fine for me. Picture of the first one.

I have some pix of my location in my gallery. Mine is in the down section. I used the magnet trick and left the manifold on. This is the second one I did that way. No problems with either install.

I had Hot Rod Diesels install my first one a few years back. It was my first diesel and I figured experience was worth it, based on my friend MURPHY always being around. They did drop the turbo from the manifold on my first one, but I don't think they would do it that way now. Actually Michael did the second one also when he installed the SPS66, that would have made it a lot easier to do. The grease and magnet seems to be working well for everyone.

The magnet worked well for me but I went a bit farther. Took the shop vac, some air line from a fish and duck tape and sucked out the remaining trash. Dont think I needed to go that far but it made me feel better when all was said and done.

drilled and taped mine with the EB on and in between 3 and 4. Wow. You will need a face shield and leather gloves.

I've read that Banks installs pyros with the engine at idle. Supposedly blows the shavings out the exhaust with no damage to the turbo. I went the magnet route and installed it just like the pic in the second post. If I had it to do again, I would drill and tap on the bottom side of the #6 cylinder and route the line behind.
