Truck seems to be using about 13/4 quarts of oil in 6000 miles. Truck only has 106k miles. KDP tabbrd, small amount of blowby, nothing I would consider excessive. I need to adjust the valves, could this be the problem? Any suggestions would be apprieciated.

If you cant see anything under the truck I would say its going out the exhaust:( maybe a turbo sealing prob. I wouldnt think it would be the rings or anything like that, with only 100k on it... ... Rick

Could be pushing out the breather too. FWIW - Depending on the climate and how hard I push the truck. I might go through a quart in 3000 miles.

Turbo?

If it is the turbo like Rick said, better check the intercooler! If it is filled with oil and you fix the turbo you will end up with a runnaway cummins!!:--)

I looked at the intercooler intake, but saw no oil residue. Could it be that it is leaking straight into the exhaust side of the turbo and burning off. There is no smoke to speak of except for a little black, before boost picks up. This problem seems to be sporatic, meeting it won't use any oil for maybe 1500 miles, and then will use a half a quart the next 1000 miles. Motor sounds fine, just don't know what is going on.

Thanks
