My oil pressure gauge is dropping to zero and bouncing back to normal in all driving modes. Based on the threads I've read, I assume it's the sending unit. Oil level is fine, and the engine sounds and performs normal.

I think I have spotted the sending unit, but want to confirm its location on a 1998. 5 24V. Is it on the drivers side, a couple of inches below the ECM? It looks like removing the fuel filter canister would give good access.

Is the Cummins replacement part any better quality than the AC Delco part from an auto parts store? Will I need a special socket to replace it?

By the way, here are price quotes I got here in southern British Columba:

Dodge dealer $352. 00 canadian = US$303. 00

Cummins BC $160. 00 = US$138. 00

Cummin NW in Portland OR US$75. 25

Lordco Autoparts $ 62. 36 = US$54. 00

Napa Parts no listing of part after 1997

Thanks for any help. Joe

thats it lh side down lownear back of engine. I buy from cummins dealers like Inland Kenworth they are much better than dc.

Advantage Dodge in Farmington, NM has good discounted prices. They have always been the lowest for me. 800 748-2139. Ask for the internet parts desk. Friendly helpful folks.
